well hello all! haven't been around for quite some time, but do want to get in gear for the fall and saw this topic!! i love Lush Karma and have their soap even as we speak. i have only tried NG's and FB's versions, and not in wax, but in body sprays, solid perfume, & M&P soap. Scented, you are absolutely right about NG's version-way, way too light!! even in body/linen spray, next to nothing. FB's was great in solid perfume and the M&P. my M&P smells almost exactly like the real Lush Karma!!! and it is reasonably priced. i will say that i put 5-6 drops of patch EO into the soap mix, and as mentioned, did not use it in any wax application, but it is really (to me) a great version!! the soap also is still smelling strong after about 5 months. hth-kris

i DID NOTHING!!! But I am very good at doing nothing constructive in the summer! So you are all way ahead of me (and likely to stay there)!

the blend of BCN's Hayride and Autumn Leaves is super strong in melts and really(to me) outdoorsy! I had to wrap the bags they were in in tin foil to keep the scent away from the other melts. made some last year and since you all reminded me, gonna go see if I can find any leftovers!

i made some "Leaves" melts last winter(from JS)-have not had them last more than 4 hours in any of my wide variety of melters/burners. it is such a great scent, and really strong for about 2 hours, than poof-gone! at 4! will be trying Aztec and New Directions versions sometime soon to see if they are any longer-lasting. i use Cb 129/415.

i like color/scent coded candles & melts, as do most of my "user" friends. at a recent huge craft fair in PA, one vendor, with only natural colored soy candles, had no customers when we walked by. i did not stop for a sniff either-nor did it entice my craft fair bud.

my favorite "staight" beach scent is Salty Sea Air from Keystone Candle Supply. reminds me of the ocean.
The unmistakable fragrance of any seaside resort. This fragrance lets you know you've arrived at the beach. Close your eyes, now take a deep breath and smell the salty aroma of the ocean. FP 200 SKIN SAFE -- A BEST SELLER!
does not smell like suntan lotion at all! great for mixing too!

Testing new scents?
in General Candle Making Discussions
Posted
if you are only trying to determine if the scent is one you would like to test in wax, try it in an oil burner. that way you can smell the "heated" version of the scent, which can be be way different than OOB. i have found that most FO's that are strong in the oil burner are quite strong in tarts/melts. At least you can tell if it is a fragrance you like or are looking for.
hope this helps!
