  1. Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm the queen of tarts in my family, so I'm familar with them, its the clamshells and molded pieces I had the questions with really. However I do apprieciate everyone's advice. So ruffly about 2 chunks seems the norm? Are the clamshells filled completely up to the top of the container? And as for the molded pieces I know someone made Halloween one's, but I can't remember who(A broom and maybe corn:undecided? ) I just need a ruff estimate of how many one puts in a package to sell. I don't want to be cheap:grin2: I'm guessing that the norm for a burner will hold at leat 1.5 oz of wax, so do you just put a few in a baggy or measure them out? thanks
  2. I just have a few questions about clamshells, and tarts in general... I was wondering how much wax they hold (clamshells), and how do they compare to the tart molds? I recently bought some tart molds and began experimenting, then I seen the co-op and thought about buying some of them to try, but missed the date:( I've seen something like them 'Time and Again' I think? makes them but I wasn't sure if they were the same thing. Also I'm wondering how many would you break apart to melt down at one time. The same question goes for the individual candy mold pieces. Are they melted by ounces or just a personal preference? The tart dishes are not that deep and I would hate to give someone insructions for melting them dowm and then have the wax overflow:undecided thanks for any feedback:D
  3. Salt City candles are great! I have one that's a berry fragrance, and I had to put the lid back on, because the smell was so strong in my little room. But they're truly awesome. What can I say I love to buy candles...I should've found this site a few years ago to inspire myself to make my own instead of spending too darn much money on other peoples..oh well it helps the economy right;)
  4. When you go to the store to buy the lye, you may have to ask the retail clerk for it. I drove to 16! stores trying to find it in one day:angry2: then I went to ACE Hardware, and asked this young kid where I might find it. Of course he looked at me like I was crazy, but directed me to the asle where they had a sign posted for it, but it was pulled off the shelf. Meth's big up here right now,so everything is locked up. Darn drug addicts! And gas at $3.00 a gallon...sorry venting..anyhoo that's how I bought some.

  9. Well I'm not sure yet:D He's the first one that I've ever made and the first one that I've ever whipped the wax. I was experimenting. But I thought he turned out great for a firsty...That dry stuff is moss, and its just there for decoration it can be removed, but it adds a little something to the picture. Which incidently took me about a week to figure out how to post, hence the no burning yet:cheesy2:

Well I just picked up my order at NG...cool place, and they have all the fo out so you can smell them, I have to say, that the Witches Brew umm didn't smell all that Halloweeney to me, and I LOVE everything about Halloween its my fav holiday of the year so I am of course biased. I'm trying to make a candle out of a black cauldron that I have, and thought it might work, but I settled on Vodoo Love instead...seemed more witchin' if ya know what I mean:p

  16. What about a fairy or a wood nymph?to go with the leaves? It looks wonderful regardless of what you add:smiley2:
  17. I hope that candle had gold in it. I have a few candles that I don't even want to burn because I know that I'll never find them again, however, I would not pay $128 for a yankee candle EVER!!!!!! But, if I was oh say oprah rich, I might consider it.
  18. wow that looks fantastic and so real, nice job
  19. Greetings neighbor:p . Well I make them all actually. I have all kinds of molds, I've bought containers, I've done the whole gel thing. Its a hobby moreso than anything. I've worked with creme wax , soy wax, crystal wax. I love to play:grin2: I've tried them all, but only as a hobby. I get most of my stuff from Pat Catan's cuz their cheaper than the other craft stores, but I want to broaden my horizons ya know:D

  21. that is to cool... love the carrots.Anyone got any milk:cheesy2:
  22. Add these to the list of dumb questions. What do all the abr. stand for? Some I've figured out some I have no clue?:undecided I've dibbled in candle making as a hobby, I had no idea how intense and how much hard work people put into making candles. I've read up on the lastest and greatest, but WOW. Whats a good wax to use, where do you get a good wax, whats a good price for wax, I've only bought wax from my local craft store. It doesn't have any numbers on it. It just says premium wax made by Yaleys. Is this ok? is it a good wax? I mean there is just so many different types and brands, I don't know where to begin. I went to the peaks web site so I kinda get the whole candle wax number thing now, but I've noticed they're out of quite a few waxes. I know everyone has their personal favs, but this chica needs some direction. Any help would be most appreciated:p
  23. Just a thought, make sure that the tart warmer has a glaze on the underside of the bowl. Unglazed ceramic heats up faster than the glazed, and is more prone to catching fire. I know this from experience. It gives of a yucky smell, but with a tart in them I'm not sure you would be able to detect it. I'm an avid lover of tart burners, and I always try to buy one's that have been glazed inside and out because of that. Just a little info:) to share.
