  1. I've used the one from Bittercreek. It is very bubbly and has a milky appearance. I have never tried to sell it - just got a gallon for my girls to play with. Susan
  2. I use BCN in bath and body. It rocks in cp! Susan
  3. Could it be your nose? I have some natural vitamin e that I use in scrubs. After making up and scenting the scrub - all I can smell is the vitamin e. Everyone else says they can't smell anything but the fo I used. Susan
  4. Thanks to all those who said that they add their FO to their melted oils before they add their lye! I love BCN Rosemary Mint but it always moves too fast and tries to rice. I usually end up powering through it with my stick blender and mashing it into the mold. It soaped beautifully today. I even got a swirl in (I hope). Thanks, Susan
  5. My understanding is that the BCN loses its scent in CP. That is why I haven't tried it. How did the MMS do for you? I tried it and it got too hot and the scent morphed. I think that I didn't let the oils and lye cool enough before I soaped. I had to beat it into my mold. Susan
  6. I tried this last summer. I use soy wax in my soap and the lye mixture wasn't hot enough to melt everything. It was a mess. I wait till everything is at room temp and then soap. Susan
  7. I am going to break down and carry a vanilla scented soap. I hate vanilla ... to me it smells like rotting vegetation at low tide. Can anyone recommend a good strong vanilla for CP. I have some vanilla stabilizer from BCN - so I am not too worried about discoloring. Thanks! Susan
  8. I get mine from BCN. I use it in CP soap and body stuff. I don't particularly care for it. Others have told me that it's a dead on dupe. Susan
  9. I put my recipe through soapcalc and the recipe with lard subbed for palm through the calculator and they are almost the same. That is why I wondered about how well it sold, etc. I am considering switching. I know I can't please everyone. My lip balm is not vegan (beeswax). No one has asked about my soap being vegan ... just seem drawn to the scent and color. I think I am going to test it and see how it goes. Susan
  10. I make mine 1 oz and put them in a shallow 2 oz tin. Susan
  11. How do you like the beef tallow in soap? We live in Southwest Montana with lots of ranches. I have considered beef tallow but haven't gotten off my rear to actually talk to our meat processor. We are taking a steer in later this month. Maybe when we leave our butchering instructions. I will ask about rendering tallow. Susan
  12. My palm is yellowish, canola is yellowish, olive oil is greenish, RBO is yellowish ... my soap comes out a lovely pale yellow color. I got my last set of oils from Cibaria. The yellow is a nice color but it makes coloring the soap interesting. Susan
  13. I have been using a CP recipe with palm, canola, castor, coconut, olive, rice bran, shea, and soy wax. I really like it except that it ends up being yellowish (palm and olive oil) and it moves really fast. I was thinking about replacing the palm with lard. I think this might help solve some of the problem. How do people react to lard on the soap label? Thanks in advance, Susan
  14. One of my testers is allergic to aluminum - her only allergy. I gave her a bath melt (used Bunny's recipe - fab by the way) scented in BCN Love Spell type to test. Only stuff in the darn things are cocoa butter, baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and FO. I wrapped them in foil candy wrappers. She said she broke out in hives. I don't think it was the FO. Could there be something with the wrappers? Thanks in advance! Susan
  15. I use the BC sanitizer base. It works well. You need to add less fo than you think. On some fo's if you add to much it will turn cloudy. I always start out with less fo, test it out and then add a bit more up to the max. The base smells like alcohol when you first use it but the alcohol evaporates quickly and then you are left with the fo's scent. Susan
