  1. I usually dissolve mine in about an ounce of my oils before I mix them with the lye water. I use a glass jelly jar with a lid and shake like crazy!!!! Most of the time it does the trick, but sometimes I have to help it along with the whisk. HTH.

  2. I try to cut mine about 1 inch thick. The log mold I use holds 3 lbs of soap, so cutting them at 1 inch gives me a a bar that weighs about 4 ounces and fits nicely into a standard soap box. I have seen some boxes that are a bit thinner-I think 3/4 inch.

  3. First let me say that the men in my family are real skeptics. My son only uses Chapstick and store bought body wash. My boyfriend swears by Irish Spring Soap. You would think they would try something for free, right??Well, I made a CP shaving soap for my boyfriend and poured into a cheapo mug from Wally World. Even went so far as to buy a nice shaving brush from Cotton Blossom Crafts to give him to use with it. Well, after letting it cure for what seemed like forever, I gave it to him last weekend to try out. I honestly think he was more intrigued by the mug and brush than using the soap!! Today, he told me that it was the best stuff he had ever used!! He says that it doesn't dry his face like the commercial shaving creme does(well, DUHH). Now he wants some in the enamel mugs I got in the coop so he won't chance it breaking in the shower. I told him he is missing out on a whole bunch of products that are soo good for his "over 50" skin. He took some lip balms and 2 bars of Bay Rum soap home with him!!!!:D :D

Now to work on converting my first born!!!!!!

  4. You do have e-wax for an emulisified scrub right? I don't use cetyl in mine but e-wax, butters and oils

Got ewax for it but a recipe I found listed cetyl alcohol as an ingredient so I thought it was necessary. Can you tell I have a lot to learn???

The granules of the turbinado sugar I use are HUGE and I found they were a bit rough, so I grind them up.

  5. I use several of NG's Oils in my J223 wax. My fav is their Satin Sheets(Kama Sutra) but I also use Downy Clean Breeze and LoveSpell. Hillbilly Homebrew is a big seller in the Fall. I rename it Cinnamon Cider. I think their oils are good quality and the price is right!!!Never had a problem with any order and they shipped really fast.

  6. I make a sugar scrub using SAO, jojoba and Cocoa butter. I use the turbinado sugar that I can get at WalMart and add about 3/4 of the box to 8 ounces of oils. My scrub has a thin layer of oil on top. I think I am going to get brave and try an emulsified scrub this weekend since I got some cetyl alcohol to play with.

  7. I tried to go through them to order but they said I wasn't big enough. They sent me a list of where to purchase their glassware in stores!!!!I know that Lyschel at Candle Cocoon runs prebuys on Anchor Hocking Glass. I got 10 cases of bowls from her that WalMart had discontinued carrying. The price was just about what I was paying before, and she was very helpful with finding the exact bowl I was looking for. I will definitely be getting more for the holiday season.

I know she posts here as a vendor so you might try PM'ing her or email thru the site:
