  1. I started making soaps in January 2005. It was the first winter that the tops of my hands were not red and cracked from being so dry. The last bar of Irish Spring got tossed a month later!!!I keep a bar at work to use and take it when I travel. I have converted sooo many people to handmade soap because I keep some with me wherever I go.

  2. I label just the tube and shrink wrap the tube and cap. I use the shrink bands that are perforated in the cap area so the customer can remove the cap, but keep the tube wrapped. The label stays on the tube so they have my contact info to buy more!!!

  3. I have gotten great feedback on my body sprays. I have been packaging in aluminum bottles with black sprayers. But as many people do, I have a problem with the darn things leaking!! Have tried 3 different sources for both the bottles and the sprayers and they still leak. I have even done the plumber's tape around the threads of the bottles, but eventually they start to leak also. I have finally thrown in the towel and decided to change packaging. I don't want to go with the clear 4 ounce bottles because some of my fragrances will cause the spray to be cloudy. Does anyone use the white HDPE White Boston rounds for their body sprays? I am thinking with a clear label, they could look kind of classy. For those that do use them-any problem with leaking??

    Thanks for any input.

  4. I was in a local restaurant supply place today to see if I could piggy back on their Libbey glassware order to save on shipping. I have been testing the 8 ounce Status jars and was ready to order some cases. When he pulled up the jar info on his computer, he told me it indicated that this jar would be discontinued when their current inventory is exhausted. He said it was the 8 ounce only-not the larger one.Anyone that uses these heard this? I certanly am not going to change jars if they are going to be discontinued!!! All that testing down the tubes!!!!!

  5. I test my lip Balm recipes in the tubes from the start. That way I get an idea of how it will hold up under various conditions, ie purse, pocket, washer and/or dryer(not intentionally of course!!!). That way I can tweak it if it is too soft. It has to get through me before I give it to other testers to try.

  6. I highly recommend their Satin Sheets!! It is a big seller for me. I also use their Downy Clean Breeze in candles and air fresheners. I use the LoveSpell in CP soap and lotions. Good Duplication of Victoria Secret(I am told by a lot of people who wear the scent).

  7. I use a combination of 75% 4794(votive) and 25% J223(container)for my clamshells without any problems. I am not familiar with embed wax, but it sounds like it has a high melt point with that much shrinking going on. With my combo, I have minimal shrinking and don't do repours.

  8. I don't make a lot of this milk bath, but when I do, I package it in a polypro ziploc bag that will hold 8 ounces. I punch a hole in the top of the bag and attach a wooden scoop to it using colored curling ribbon. Slap a label on the bag and voila!

This recipe is a great one and so simple. Have fun!!!

  9. I just made a batch using that fragrance this past weekend. It started to rice on me but I think I managed to stick blend it into submission. Like yours it did heat up and gel quickly in the mold. It was my usual recipe-so the culprit was probably the Purely Herbal. Never soaped this one before-it smells great!!!
