  1. I used the soapnut powder in my face cleanser formulation. It doesn't get bubbly and foamy like a soap bar does. It foams, but not profusely. Although it burns like heck if it gets in your eyes, it is a gentle cleanser for the skin.
  2. I tried using the soapnut in a dry facial cleanser that I mixed with water to make a paste. I got some in my eyes and thought I would pee my pants. Water didn't help--made it worse. I rinsed my eyes with olive oil to help the burn. My eye was blood red and felt like it had sand paper in it for the rest of the evening. By the next morning it was okay though. After all that, I loved the way it made my skin feel. My face felt clean without feeling dry and it was soft. I'm going to have to pull it back out and try it again.
  3. Hmmm. Thanks for responding. I'll keep looking.
  4. Hi Everyone. I would like to make a bath soak that has floating flower petals. Could someone please point my in the right direction. Where can I purchase the flower petals to make this? TIA
  5. You've done a great job. Your website is unique and fresh. Keep up the great work. I felt like I had walked through the door of an upscale boutique. Mmmm--I like.
  6. Great site!!! Everything looks so real. You've done a really great job.
  7. I agree with a lot of the other posts and would also like to add that you check the grammar and punctuation. There are a lot of run-on sentences in your text which makes it hard to read. Your brochure is going to be the face of your company to perspective clients. Whenever I log onto a site, the first thing that hits me is the way the information is presented. If there are typos or grammatical errors, I don't buy from them. Lack of attention to details conveys a lack of attention to running the business and transalates into a lack of attention in producing a quality product.
  8. Thanks so much for the link. I've put this project in my "To Try" file. Very interesting.
  9. Love the new colors and the changes you've made. I would just like to suggest one small thing. On the "Home" page, you have "Handmade Candles, Soap, Lotion, and More" in the banner and right before the "welcome". I would remove the one right before the welcome.
  10. There are a lot of posts about starting a business or things that folks would have done differently, etc. Have you legally registered your business? Gotten insurance?
  11. I agree with the other suggestions and would add that maybe you consider deleting some of the repeats of the company name on the "Home" page. It appears to many times. You're off to a good start.
  12. Even though products can be made without preservatives, I would not be comfortable selling my products without them. Even if you have products around for long periods of time and you don't see any nasties, doesn't mean that they aren't there.
  13. When I began researching candle making and B&B products I found this forum. I've joined others, but none of them compare to the exprience and expertise that I've found here. In the world of cyberspace there are so many fly-by-night rip folks off companies that you don't know who to trust with your financial information. The opinions that are shared here have helped me tremendously in choosing credible suppliers. Thank all of you so much. It is up to each one of us to make our own choices. The posts I read did not deter me from ordering from Gelluminations; however, Gelluminations response did. I thought it unprofessional to respond in a public forum to a customer's complaint.
  14. Thanks so much Carol. I'm trying to streamline as much as possible. I'm going to make up my premixed batches today. YIPPY!!!
  15. I could premix the liquid oils and then melt the hard oils. I guess that could save a little time. or, I could mix the whole batch and separate into individual batch sizes and remelt only what I need. That could work. I hope somebody else chimes in.
  16. I finally bought a MasterBuilt turkey fryer for my wax and I love it. Best investment I've made so far. But, I would like to be able to have my oils for soaping ready to go when I'm ready. Has anyone used the turkey fryer to melt their oils. I'm asking because my concern is will the oils break down from reheating? Could you share with me the method you use to continually melt large batches of oil? TIA
  17. I think your candles look very nice. The beautiful thing about individuality is that it allows people to bring their own flavor. Flavor is a wonderful thing.
  18. Thanks so much for all of your comments. I'll go back and read the other posts. I don't think it can be said enough about how great this board is. But, of course it couldn't be great without all of you who willingly share your experience and knowledge. Thanks again.
  19. I think you candles are gorgeous. I'm learning to love what some might see as imperfections. I think the little oopses add character. Great job!
  20. Good morning, I was wondering if any of you use the MasterBuilder turkey roaster to melt wax in. I wasn't sure how safe it would be to use since the heating coil would be in direct contact with the wax. TIA
  21. I'll be working on my forever candles and some B&B stuff, but mostly my forever candles. I'm going in my workroom and lock out everybody. I finally realized that everyone in the house has plenty of free time to do whatever they want because I'm there doing everything for them. This weekend I'm going to do what makes me happy. Sorry, I got off on a vent; but, WHEW, that felt good.
  22. Love your site. Neutral colors always make me think of comfort. I like to be comfortable when shopping. I think you've done a great job so far. Once you incorporate some of the changes, you'll be good to go.
  23. I've been experimenting with recipes for dry face masks using milk, clay, oatmeal, etc. So far, I haven't had any of them clump or get moisture in them. I use plastic 2 oz jars to store them in.
  24. Cindys, I don't know if this will help, but what I do is place the cup in the center of the mold and use a scewer to hold it down while I pour a small amount of wax in the mold. Let that set and then pour the rest of the wax in.
  25. Thanks SatinDucky. You've gotta love WallyWorld!! I've really gotta get my addiction under control and beat my husband home before the UPS guy shows up. I need more wax, more wax, more wax, more wax.....
