  1. Just a thought here. If you decide to make them for her anyway, knowing she instends to sell them as body candles, why couldn't you still put a candle warning label on them? This way AT LEAST you might stand a better chance of protecting yourself liability wise.

Explain to her, as was stated, that law requires you to have warning labels.

  2. Those Melting Pot jars are the prettiest jars I have seen in a long time. So I ordered the 8 oz, and like to have gone nuts with them. It is the weird air currents that made them act so strange, I think.

After months of trying different types of wicks I just gave up on them and actually threw the cases I had left in the garbage. I know some of you will think I'm nuts throwing jars away, but I wouldn't have sold those things to my worst enemy. I will never use those again. I have never had that much trouble wicking a jar to never get it figured out. I usually get any jar wicked with testing, but not those things. The flame was either too small, too large or it smoked like a tar kiln when it got half way down in the jar.

  3. depending the MP of the wax you use, you should ship on Monday so they aren't sitting in some hot truck (UPS) over the weekend. I seems to do better too if I use bubble wrap around each jar, and then styrofoam (spelling?) peanuts on the bottom and all around.

  4. They definitely differ from supplier to supplier. I make sure I always buy from the same source, because I did the same thing you did, and the wicks were different. You never know what they are primed with, and that can make a difference too.

And yes certain wicks work better than others in different applications. That is another place where your testing comes in.

  5. Another quick question Munch. Were the Creme Brulee ones the ones where you didn't have any left over, or the ones you did have wax/fo left?

Is Creme Brulee the only scent you've poured? The reason I ask is that an ounce of Creme Brulee (weighed) would have less volume (liquid measure)than say and ounce of Cuc Melon (weighed). Heavier oil like vanillas would have less volume that lighter oils, which would throw the liquid ounces off when you are ready to pour, and this could leave you with left over wax on some candles.

  6. Thanks Top & Brad, I know I eat (or did eat) a lot of things that were bad for me, but since I'm on diet and trying to eat more healthy now I hope I have extended my expected lifespan a little.

I knew about the veggies being coated with wax, and that washing with plain water doesn't even phase it, so I guess I've consumed several candles worth of paraffin so far and I'm still here. I have to admit I didn't know gum had paraffin. Good grief at the wax I've ingested in my long life.;)

  7. Top, I've got a question. After reading this string and the mentioned Wikipedia info, I can't help but wonder if what I was told about the GB soy (by an employee of GB) is true. I was told that it is the same product used to make Hardees biscuits. If that is fact, are people eating carcinogins & paraffin when they eat a biscuit? Or was Michael Richards referring to his invention/product?

I use both soy and paraffin, and both can have a beautiful burn with no soot if wicked properly. It has always gotten my dander up when anyone tries to knock either of them. They are both good products.

  8. Sounds interesting, and I used to love to just play around with different waxes and blends. But somewhere along the way this little hobby decided to develope a life of its' own and I stuck with the GB soys for all the ones I sell.

Sink holes in the ones that developed them (when I was playing) used to drive me nuts, but now that wouldn't bother me as much anymore if I got a consistent burn.

Please do keep us posted on how your testing goes. I think I have some of the original Joy wax around here somewhere, but it has changed since I got this so I don't know if it would work like yours would. I kind of doubt it.
