  1. I made my 1st beer soap and when I cut it I noticed some holes with liquid in them, they seem to be the color of the lye/beer mixture, are these lye pockets?
  2. The CocoaPink recipe only makes 3 round bath bombs - I use the clear round plastic balls that I got at Michaels. I have had 1 of my plastic molds crack but they have held up pretty well but I don't make bath bombs a lot. I want to get a meat baller and try that though, sounds like it would be much easier.
  3. I have tried several different recipes for bath bombs and the best one that I have come across is Cocapinks Bath Bomb Recipe, my bath bombs come out perfect every time. My kids have even dropped them on the tile floor and they survive. Here it is: Part 1 Dry 1C. Baking Soda Wet 30gm Cocoabutter 5gm Shea Butter FO & Color Part 2 1/2 C + 2T. Citric Acid Melt all wet ingredients together and add to baking soda. Mix well. You should have a paste that is nice and sticky. Try to keep everything warm so cocabutter does not start hardening which may dry everything out (just pop into microwave for 20 seconds). Add Citric Acid and Mix until incorporated. You should have a mix that sticks together well, but still crumbles a little. If the mix is too dry (it shouldn't be) you can spray with FCO. If you are in a dry climate then up the cocoabutter by 5gms in your next batch.
  4. It definitely is a bug! I started making soap a few months ago and I am an addict! There are some nights that I even dream about soaps, is that pathetic or what? Good luck controlling this bug :smiley2:
  5. Is the Tank a brand name or a type of soap cutter?
  6. You could also attach a funnel to some skewers, lay it over your mold and alternate pouring your different colors. It comes out nice but you have to do it at a thin trace. I find it is easier to swirl in the pot and then pour into the mold.
  7. I am going to have to order one, they look so nice! I have never heard of those molds before.
  8. That's great! Packaging really makes a difference.
  9. I like it! It seems much "cleaner" to me.
  10. I have not seen any but I believe there might be some on amazon. I have gained most of my knowledge from the web. I know that snowdriftfarm.com offers some classes but they are located in Arizona. :smiley2:
  11. I usually mix my lye/water mixture in the garage. Sometimes I will fill a pan with some water and add some ice cubes to it which helps it cool down faster.
  12. I keep everything separate, even though I clean everything well the thought of using the same appliances/bowls/spoons for food bothers me.
  13. Congrats! You will soon find out how addicting soaping can be :smiley2:
  14. Thanks for your responses, good info! For now I am going to get the basic cp techniques down and maybe one of these days I will be able to make some of those "wow" soaps
  15. Hi Everyone - I am new to craftserver, there is a lot of great information here! I love making bath & body stuf and just started making cp soaps a few months ago. I found a picture of a soap that just boggles my mind how the brown outline was created. Does anyone know how this is done or what you would call this techique? Any ideas? http://www.flickr.com/photos/95379330@N00/3280969133/
