  1. It looks amazing! I can only hope to be able to do something like that in the future. If you don't mind my asking, do you like SW Provence? I have been debating whether to buy it and was happy to see a post from someone who has used it. Did you mix with Clean because it is a weak F.O?
  2. Welcome! I'm new here too. I spend more time reading this site than actually making anything, but I think it's worth the time. I decided to send you a reply for two reasons: 1) to welcome you 2) to rack up some points because apparently I haven't done enough posts to enable me to send and receive PM's or even look at the Co-op listings . My advice, read, read read and send posts, posts, posts. I if I had done that months ago I would be one of the "in-crowd" by now (reminds me of highschool); able to see all kinds of goodies on this site. Hope you have as much fun as I'm having. This is a great addiction. Doesn't hurt anyone except maybe that old enemy called VISA!
  3. Richard, I can only see one colour of candles in the picture. All the candles look green to me. It could be because I'm seeing, "green with envy"! Wish I could make candles as beautiful as that. Fantastic creations!
  4. "...Amber, Amber Romance, Curve, Coolwater,Red Hot Cinnamon. I got some on my arm and licked it one day. There are real red hots in it. It is a true red hot, oh man" Debra, I laughed so hard when I read this. You licked it? I'm so glad you lived to tell the story. Glad to know there are other people like me out there. I probably wouldn't be able to resist either. Lick on!!!
  5. Hi, I have been using the Eternity for women from Save on Scents. In the extreme concentration I almost always get a compliment. I might even go so far as to say it smells better than the original. If you ever try it, let me know what you think. I hope my nose isn't tricking me.
  6. I only started candle making recently but I am really pleased with the effect created by wrapping my molds while they cool. I wrap each votive in a washcloth and secure with an elastic to really slow down cooling process. Stick them in a covered shoe box and voila! Starburst effect is awesome.
  7. Vicky, thank you so much for the information. I finally got to pour my first set of votives and they came out really pretty. Originally I was scared to start candle making, but now I'm afraid I won't be able to stop! Thanks for the help.
  8. Candlescience, I am new here so I really hope you are still an active poster. I'm hoping you can clarify something... When you melt the top of your wickless candle, you said that you take a screwdriver and make a hole in the top of your candle. Do you use the screwdriver to dig a hole big enough to fit the entire bottm of the wick and then remelt to fuse the wick in place? Am I understanding correctly? Thanks!
  9. Hello everyone. This is my very first post and I'm both excited and scared at the same time. I have never made a candle in my life but this weekend should be my first try. I've been doing research for about two months, reading everythng I can online and watching videos while I decided on what to order and waited for my shipment to get to my island in the Caribbean. At first, I thought it was going to be easy, but after finding this site and reading everyone's detailed comments, I have concluded that candle making is an both an art and a science. Oh my goodness! I have a few questions and I wonder if anyone might have a moment to guide me a bit. I really like the kindness and respect everyone shows for each other on this site. It is really welcoming. Thanks in advance for any help received. Question - It sounds as though everyone has a 1000 page notebook with detailed notes on their "test burns". What should I be recording in my little notebook and what are the steps to an effective testburn. Thanks everyone. You're my new Candle family!!!! Candle Details: Type: Starburst Palm from Peak Mold: Votive FO: SOS and NG
