  1. Its scented with Amish Harvest. I am trying to think of a way to make it easier on me for the frosting issue without adding additives. These were fun to make, so I may continue on doing this as long as testing goes well.
  2. Ok... my husband is home and he made the pic smaller. enjoy.
  3. That is so not fair... it is only 40 degrees here today!!!
  4. my picture is too big, I'm waiting for my computer geek husband to come home from work and shrink it down. As soon as that happens I'll post. (i just like keeping you guys hanging in anticipation )
  5. I'm trying to get the pictures posted for you guys.
  6. I poured my first chuck candle last night. It is scented Amish Harvest. Can't wait to start my test burning tomorrow!!!
  7. That does seem reasonable. Another quick question... can you speed up the hardening time for the chunks in the refridgerator or outside if it is cold? I poured the chunks at 12:30 today and 2 hours later it just feels like fudge you would get from Mackinac Island (yes I live in Michigan :smiley2: ) Is is possible to just stick it in the fridge so I can pour the overpour tonight?
  8. I'm working on my first chunk candles and have the wax poured for the chunks. How long should I let those cure before putting them in my jars and pouring the over pour. I am using ecosoya 135 for my candles. Thanks
  9. I am using the 9 oz hex jars and tried cotton core, rrd, and lx wicks. I have not tried the CD's yet. That was going to be my next option, but decided to just continue using the 135 that I had in the house. Once I have a good product line going, I may go back to it and play around with the advanced again.
  10. When I think of simplicty, i think of topical drinks and little umbrella's. So, coconut, strawberry dacari (or however you spell it), sex on the beach... scents like that.
  11. I've tried the ecosoya advanced, but could not get it wicked. I have not tried other waxes yet and know that I could combat the frosting by doing that, but my husband would shoot me if I baught yet another box of wax without using up what I got. If he only new how much I would spend on this, he would never have let me quit my job to start my own business:laugh2:
  12. I have been having some frosting issues from my ecosoya 135 and getting big headaches from it. I was contiplating going dyeless to help combat the frosting issues, but my mom said that would be boring. I was wondering if doing colored chunk candles with a white overpour would be a good compromise. I don't see many chunk candles around, but I always thought they looked cool. In other words, I'm thinking about changing my line up, both these colored chunk candles for those who like color and dye free ones for those who want no color. What do you think? The idea of starting over doesnt' make me very happy, but I think I will be happier in the long run.
  13. Thanks, I guess I'm just being too picky on my tester jars.
  14. Yes, I put a wick, some pinecones, and some branches from our old christmas tree that we still had on our deck. They look really cute, so I can't wait to test one again.
  15. Does anybody have a easy way to get wax out of old tester jars? I now have a bunch of jars sitting here that I want to reuse to test a new scent, but I'm having a problem getting the wax out. It is just the residual wax that is on the side of the jar. I've put them in my dishwasher with extra heat, upside down in the oven and even washed with scaulding hot water. I still have this waxy film on them. The other option would be just to pour my next tester with this film, but that does not seem like it would give me a true test burn. Did anybody else have this problem and what do they do to solve it. Thanks
  16. My insurance was $333 a year. My new quoates come in anywhere from $300 to $400 a year. I know it depends on where you live and how much coverage you want.
  17. Thanks for letting me know about them having to pay back the unused premiums. That makes me feel better about that. However, since our agent has been giving us trouble since August, we were in the process of leaving him completly. So we are not going to fight it too hard. I would hate to go through all that fighting when we are just planning on leaving to begin with. That just seems to be a waste of my time.
  18. Thanks for the link. When I found this board that was one thing that I searched for. It has been very helpful. I want to get insurance right away since I have candles out there, but I don't want to take the first company that gives me a quote (do like to find the cheapest). About an hour after posting, I had one of the insurance companies call me back and gave me a quote. It is cheaper than what I have been paying, but it isn't as much coverage. However, it may be enough since I am still small. I'm going to be talking to my husband tonight and see what he says about the other products that they quoted me. It just sucks having to pay a premium twice in one year.
  19. I don't know. My husband and I have been having problems with them for almost a year now. We have everything with them, house, cars, my husband's toys, life... I have been working on switching now for a few weeks, just wasn't ready to do so yet. Was waiting until our life was up at the end of this month. Just wish they would have waited...would have saved them the trouble. I have not noticed anybody in my neighborhood and my neighbors love that I am doing this, so I can't see them complainin about traffic (which there wouldn't be any from me anyways since customers don't come to my house) Maybe more UPS trucks coming and going
  20. Last week, my insurance company sent me a letter saying that they will no longer cover my business because of liablity. I called them up (since they have been insuraning me from the start) and asked why? They said it is because one of the agents saw somebody walk out of my house with a candle when I told them that I do not have customers come to my door. I told them I don't have customers come to my door and if you saw somebody walking out of my door with a candle, it would be a friend of mine who was testing a new scent for me. Needless to say I got mad and why were they watching my house??? Were they just trying to come up with a reason to drop me? I suspended all sales and now I'm currently calling around again for insurance. I've had 2 companies now tell me to disolve my LLC because I don't make enough to make insurance worth it. I talked to my lawyer and he doesn't even suggest disolving my LLC to save money on insurance. The LLC just gives me more protection. Thanks for listening to my rant... I needed to get it out. Wish me luck on finding new insurance.
  21. Thanks Stella, I am feeling the same way. I am putting that one away to try a smaller size wick once they come in. Its one of my favorite scents and its one I have been trying to wick for a while now with no success.
  22. I'm dong some more research on wickless on this forum and have a question. I have been testing a wickless for 2 days now in an 11 oz tureen jar (and still have a lot of testing to go on it yet) However, I'm reading that maybe I should not be using these tureen's for wickless due to glass cracking and breaking. The supplier that I purchased these from said that they are great for wickless candles too, so I thought that would mean they would be safe for warmers. Should I scrap them all together before wasting anymore money on testing these... or are they really safe and just the people who do not follow the safety instructions to the extream the ones having problems?
  23. So, I went to my friends house this morning to test one of my firestarters. It did not actually start the fire, but did start the twigs that we had placed in there. The wood was just still too wet from winter . Will try again in a few months or earlier if I find some dry wood.
  24. stupid question here... are you talking crisco... they stuff i used to use for baking cookies!!! If that is the case, I really will never use that stuff again. That thought just made me sick.:lipsrseal
  25. Great idea... sorry for bring up an old thread. Is that normal fabric or is that a special kind. Aroma beads are on my "want to make" list, but I have so much testing going on right now, don't think I can handle another one
