From what I've read, candle chips can not be used in soaps. Bittercreek and others sell dye chips for soap. HTH

I found a recipe for vanilla honey oatmeal m&p soap...one of the ingredients is vanilla oil. Is this something I can buy locally?

Hello all,

Since I will be making soap soon, I figured I'd buy some and see what I should expect. Two out of the three smelled and felt awesome...the third has this weird spot on it. The spot felt soft to the touch and didn't smell like Chestnuts and brown sugar (more like nothing)...what does this mean? Did this soap maker not let it cure enough? Thanks !

OK, so I gave in to my urges to try soap making...I bought a kit from Bittercreek....I am very excited!! One question...dye chips for candle making can not be used for soaps right?? Thanks!

I'm debating switching from 1343 to 4045. I've had fingernailing with the 1343 and really don't want to deal with it. Has anyone had experience with fingernailing in the 4045? Also, I've read that the 4045 mottles. I'm not interested in that. Anyway to get rid of the mottling? Any other wax suggestions? THanks!
