  1. CindyM...thank you so much for letting me know that i'm good with the web addy and don't have to put my home address on the label. now if i can just figure out what to do about 8oz jelly jars.... C
  2. Thanks for the help. I was wondering about the 8oz jelly jars since that is what everyone refers to them as. Also like someone PMed to me, they had there home addy on there labels and people started showing up there wanting candles and not calling first. I really don't want that to happen. And I agree with EMercier, there ARE alot of larger candle biz that don't have all this info on there labels. I jsut can't see where physical address is needed. I have a phone number and my town and state plus my web addy. Seems like someone could reach me one way or another.
  3. I have several questions about labeling. When you put the weight for Jelly Jars are you putting 8oz. or 6oz.? Since my biz isn't in the phone book I have to put my home address? Or is city and state and my phone number ok? Thanks for any help. C
  4. Babyrn....that sounds really neat. i think BCN might have the part for that, or like that. http://www.candlesupply.com/oilcandles.html these are the parts to make the wine bottle and mason jar candles. But I can't find anywhere about scenting them. C
  5. well now i wondered if it would throw any scent or not. Ok thanks. I'll tell her it won't work. She had been looking for a scented lamp oil, I was thinking that there was such a thing, but i guess not. Thanks! C
  6. I had a lady ask if she can put refresher oils 60:40 (DPG:FO) in the lamp oil. She bought a wine bottle that another lady had painted and put an oil wick in and wants it to smell good. Any idea? TIA C
  7. Nope, when I bought them the sites just said the measurements. Thanks! I forgot about the link with the calculators. Very handy. Glad there is one for jars too, I am gonna have to fill Qt. jars for a lady and wasn't sure how much wax it was gonna take there either. Do you know if the calculators figure repours too? I mean is that included in the oz it figures? C:yay:
  8. how much wax i need to melt for a pillar mold? I have different sizes and would like to be able to know how to figure it so i melt the right amount. C
  9. I'll check with Lonestar in the morning. I can get orders from Peak in 3 days. I guess I better look into getting a slab of the other to test incase I run into trouble again. Thanks!! C
  10. Where can I get some? I love ordering from Peaks but the site says it's backordered. I have MAYBE 2# Is there another supplier? I need the mottle. Or should I try another kind? Only thing is i just ordered 1000 wicks for my votives, for the 1343A Cari
  11. For me mainly horse people order the leather candles. I do mine in tan. Heck, go for it! What's the worst that can happen? You dont' get the accounts? But then again you just might! You could always offer it in different shades. Just a thought. C
  12. Good deal on the mold temp. I have been eyeballing that sale. I just might have to get some. No time like sale time to try something new! lol C
  13. I'm gonna pour a pillar for ME tonight and test wicks in it. Then I'll let you know what I ended up with. In the past I have used zinc wicks with good luck. I have some new stuff but not sure off the top of my head what they are. So I guess....I just need to keep working with the metal molds and skip the polys? at least for marbleing. I do have a temp dial on my heat gun...I might just have to try it at least once. C
  14. where do you find the clear molds? I was wondering if you could use a heat gun on them. Thanks for the complements!! You mention the nice soft colors...you should see the batch after this. lol DH said it looked burnt. C
  15. Thanks everyone!! I was so excited last night when I got these out of there molds. I ended up trying another batch. IGI 4796 is a blended votive wax, it is a 2 pour, has a mp of 128. I have used it in the past for pillars and had good luck. How do you know if you have all the bubbles out? I'm scared I'm gonna heat it for to long and then not have the marble. Course I might be pouring it a little to late so that could possibly be causing extra bubbles? C
  16. Well I was wanting to make marbled votives but chickend out and tried a pillar first. Heck I just got these molds in today from Peak after all, I had to use them. lol These were from the same pot of wax, but are totally different. I didn't tap enough so I still have air holes on the outside. Now to start testing wicks. Any suggestions? 3" pillar. I made these with IGI 4796...I want to try these with 1343A too. The pics are of the front and back of the candles. Hope you like them! Cari
  17. I think about wick pins everytime I place an order, but they just cost so much. I think I have 2, I will just have to hunt them down. I want to try to figure these out to make a couple at a time to go with a pillar or 2... I think it would be a pain to make all my votives like this but I still have to give it a try. Cari
  18. Well now there's a thought. What the heck, I'll give it a shot. What can it hurt?.. Thanks c
  19. Thanks for the help SatinDucky and Scented!! Off to try these guys. Cari
  20. I really like the diamond chips. Especially with the red. I use 1 chip/# with IGI 4786, 4796, 6006, and J223. With the mottling waxes I have been using 1/2 chip/#. I do like dyes too. No matter what you use the most important thing is to write down how many drops/# of wax or what ever it is you are using. When I use blocks I use a veggie peeler to shave it, this color takes this many shaves and so on. You will find a comfortable depth (so to speak) to put the peeler and each time will just do it the same way. I haven't ever used over 6 shaves or 6 drops / # though. Good Luck Cari
  21. So how do I do the top? Just pour it solid? and forget it? Can I use 1343A without additives? Or do i need to add stuff or should I use IGI 4796? Thanks! Cari
  22. HI!! Could someone help me with this? I have a fo called kalidescope and thought that marbled votives would be really cool. I understand melt wax, scent it, let it cool down, then add drop of colors stir gently to mix, then this is where it gets fuzzy... glop into votive molds then beat on counter to make it fit? then hit with heat gun, how do you know how long to do this? now that this is all done, how do i do the tops? Also I don't know if I can locate any votive pins, will this cause problems? Thanks for any help!!! Cari
