Well a short while ago I posted that I got a deal of a lifetime on Ebay being--- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260440416943 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260440403866 $10.00 each. I went and picked up all of the items, and it turned out better. The Very nice woman that had the items found many more items while she was getting the things together. So I got over 600 containers (est.) for $20.00 plus my gas to get them. My Truck was packed (good thing I put the cap on my truck before the trip) So that was the first great part of the trip for us. The second was my wife set up our candles at a show I attend every year, and after all the book work, we made $300.00 PROFIT on the weekend. A Very good trip to PA. Next for us is a couple of shows close to home.

Hey all, I've just been lurking in the shadows for the past couple of months. But I just had to chime in on a deal I came across on Ebay. check these two Items I purchased for $9.99 each:yay: *super banana* :whoohoo: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260440416943 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260440403866
I think nobody bid on them because they were pick up only, the woman would not ship them. Well My home town is 40 minutes from this woman, and I'm going to that area this weekend for a Antique and Craft show 7/17 - 7/26 so I can pick them up.

:yay: always the best advice for any question.
I don't know how others think about this issue, but here're my thoughts... For container votives, I secure the wicks same as any container candle. But for free-standing votives, one cannot do this. Some folks use a shorter neck on their wicktabs so as not to have so much wax leftover, but I don't. I use the same height wicktab because I want it to extinguish earlier, if possible, so that the heat doesn't have a chance to build up quite so much when the candle turns liquid. There are larger based wicktabs that keep the wick centered and some folks choose this solution. Other folks don't use wicktabs at all for pillar-style candles (including free-standing votives), arguing that when the wax becomes too soft to hold the wick upright, it'll keel over and self-extinguish. The main thing for safety is to burn the votives in a close-fitting container and to keep an eye on them, particularly when they are more than halfway burned down. Strong emphasis should be placed on extinguishing the candle when only 1/2" of wax remains. It isn't a contest to see how far down one can burn a candle!:rolleyes2 Rather, it's how far down can one burn one SAFELY. HTH -
We got these at the dollar store http://www.craftserver.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17507&d=1243563337

When we level our candles, we hold the candle by the wick and slowly twist the candle on a hot pan to melt the bottom. We dont let the candle rest on the pan or your uneven bottom will continue. You watch as you slowly lower the candle until the whole candle touches at once.

Nice looking candles, try a lighter background for your pictures. I couldnt get a dark background to come out to well

We have a 10X20 6 leg Canopy that we use. It's heavy duty and really takes a beating. We've got the side flaps for it so they provide some extra protection from weather, and securtiy, or put the poles on them and put them up and we now have a 20x20 It's been used for 4 years now. I use it for all my Antique shows, we use it for all the candle shows, and also for Family get togethers here at the house. MY wife bought it for me for our wedding anniversary from TSC. Goes up easy. I usually put it up myself.

I just let mine "dry" for about 15 min or so and they are fine. I always print them before I clean up the jars and by the time I am ready for them they are fine. Did you change your setting? I print mine on Photo Paper Glossy. I use an Epson R260 Photo Printer.
I am useing Free Samples that I requested from them. My printer is a Lexmark 2500. After they dried for a while they didnt' smear. I dont know how they'll hold up to moisture though.

I've got a question for the masses. We just ordered a bunch of sample lables from www.onlinelables.com. They are various shapes, but the lables themselves are White, Clear Matte, and Clear Gloss. All for Inkjet printer. My Question, Is there any way to stop the ink from smearing on the CLEAR lables. The ink is fine on the white.

This is going to sound really strange, but it does work.
Take a large potato and cut it in half. place the potato on the burned area, and not only will it draw out any toxins that are causing the burn, but it will also help int the healing.
You can also try pouring some milk over the area, sometimes that works too.

I use Photo Explosion. I love it, there's so much you can do with it.

Wow!! Some suppliers actually give FREE samples of wax and F/O???? Which ones? I need to be buying from them!!! I have always had to pay for my samples.....plus shipping.
We've gotten free scent samples from Peak, Lonestar, Bittercreek, and on other that my brain cant remember. We got 8oz wax samples from Lonestar and bittercreek.

We wont do business with them. Some of thier order requirements are rediculous, and when my wife contacted them about if they offered any free samples of wax, FO's, the response she got was insulting.

I am on MSN Messenger lots and really need a Gal Pal to chat with about candles!:laugh2:

yes you spray the inside of the mold with the mold wiz then pour your wax. Where I work we mold Pistons that go in Brake Calipers on Cars and Trucks. We spray the MOLD before putting the material in to be molded. This is good stuff. We use it on our molds here for candles, No sticking at all. and you dont have to use alot of it
-
We use lable, tags it just depends on the candle for shipping we use the bubble wrap bags.
-
I make our own wick bars. They are custom made for each style jar and mold we use. I used some left over Steel heating duct work, a pair of tin snips, and a pair of pliers.
-
I Love them. I just hope that nobody smelled and drove. DWOSS can be very dangerous.
(DWOSS~ Driving While Overly Scent Stimulated)
Friends dont let Friends Sniff and Drive!

I agree, I put up mulitple windows with all the different suppliers we are looking at. If they dont have a way of showing the shipping, they are out!
-
I'd check out Lonestarcandlesupply.com I dont think the prices are that bad and the shipping is good. But be sure to check out the company that's near you.

Well at the Antique show that we went to where I showed my antiques and my wife sold our candles, we had this little guy running around. This was just to cute for words, so I got this short vid. This is taken right by our candle display. The crawler is made from the workings of a Trax Snowblower.
