  1. So I noticed SS and DS are pricey! Are they that much better than say, AH, BCS,JS.? I mean if its proven they are better then I could say I might try it. Kinda like you pay for what you get thing....Although let me say I really like JS,AH, BCS. I think I am missing one. Anyway maybe I will Have to get a sample and see what the hype is on the price. Anyone know any difference in the oils? LeeAnn~

  2. I think your doing a great job. I wouldn't think of doing it myself...but then again I am not computer savvy! We had ours done and we still are tweeking it. It is going to be an on going change. Our pictures are up for change, we just sent over to give them building blocks. We have changed a few products, working on new things, constantly changing to get what we want. That is where I have a problem.. I didn't want anything up till it was exactly what I wanted...but you have to start some where. So keep up the good work and you will find what your looking for....LeeAnn~

  3. I realize that you have to test diff batches however this is more than a little different or a little fluxuaiton, soy wax should not solidify at 160 degrees

Exactly what I am saying...the last wax we tried absolutly acted so far off...it was unreal. So in saying that...maybe its not you...its the wax. LeeAnn~

  4. I know its so weird, yes its the same fos and wax ive used for 3 years, I thoght maybe my thermometer was screwed up and I was putting in the fo to cool but once in the jar it took way longer to cool, which would make me thinkthat it was oured too hot, im thinking maybe a a fan or air was on it making the top cool before the rest but i didnt change anything like that through out the first half of my candle making which was fine?!

Same batch number for wax? We learned real quick to test different batches. We went to a new batch and ohhh crap was it totally different, so different we will NOT use it. might want to check that. LeeAnn~

  5. I have had this happen with at least two oils too and it is really frustrating when you find out after you have sold some knowing that whoever bought them are going to think they are duds. I found out by giving one of them as a gift to a friend and this same friend had bought the other one for herself and she remembered how it was before -- had a kick butt throw before. I found out later that this oil was pulled by the supplier but not sure if it was for a scent throw problem -- believe I saw other issues they were having with it - raw material problems, but that I guess could affect scent throw. I know it is not the wax because I am getting great throws with the other oils. Really frustrating.

That has happened to us except it was the wax. bad formulation..i guess. So now we test each batch. LeeAnn~

  6. Never done these but have thought about it. I was thinking of the pine cones too...the cupcake, just another idea for a fire starter? Right? has nothing to do with pine cone? Sorry just wanted to make sure I understand that. Hopefully we will have time to mess with a few this year. Thanks,LeeAnn

I figured it out. That was new to me. LeeAnn~

  7. We did get wooden lids from wsp. They are nice lids. We didn't use them because the lid messed with my CT on my candle. Smelled woody,musky....It didn't bother my husband he wanted to do it anyway...we really liked the look, but I couldn't do it. They were pretty cool though. ( we even tried to spray them too) LeeAnn~

  8. Hi there

I scented mine, I used KY Pillar Paraffin Wax and colored them and

Scented. These were done with PINE CONES.

    Green was Pine type

    Orange was Orange Clove

    Red was Christmas Splendor

White was Jack Frost or Peppermint type scent.

Then I filled cupcake paper with shredded potpourri and filled it with

    the colored wax.

These 4 color and scent were huge hit, I set them in a basket as gift giving type. They look beautiful. OH another thing I did was

Wax dipped the cinnamon sticks, just halves of the long 6inches, stuck them together tied with raffia in the basket. kinda make it look neat looking.

  9. LeeAnn -- have you considered the GL 30/70 blend? I had gone through a few cases of the 70/30 & really liked it, but just couldn't take the price increase. I did a little reading, placed a few calls & decided to take a leap of faith & ordered 2 cases of the 30/70. It's the easiest wax I've ever worked with & required very little change to the testing I had already done w/ 70/30. I've eliminated all additives, it colors beautifully & has an amazing hot throw. I've eliminated all double wicks, have gone down 2 wick sizes in all candles I make, have almost doubled my burn times & can actually get a perfect burn from a 12oz Metro. I honestly have no complaints & love this wax.

    Susan.

Thanks Susan. When it first came out I dabbled alittle with it. got to be honest, I didn't want to change so that was that.( I really like my 70/30 and price changed wasn't moving me) But I am currently testing the 30/70, we will see what comes of it. LeeAnn~

  10. LeeAnn is an excellent customer and we would always take care of them. We are currently out of 70/30 and in discussing batch inconsistency issues with her, we did tell her the only way to get the consistency is to buy a lot of that batch of wax that is performing to the level that she likes. In deciding that she wanted to look at a pallet, we gave her the information to contact the manufacturer since we really can't give hardly any price break on a pallet - once again, trying to take care of her, our customer. (He is not our supplier, he is the manufacturer.) She needs a consistent batch to take her through the holiday season and we felt this was the best way to take care of her.

Again, we are currently out of 70/30, as we had just sent the last case to another customer when LeeAnn needed some, but have made no decision to discontinue this wax.

    Thanks

    Brenda

    Thanks Brenda!

  11. Sorry YOU are having a bad day. I did not direct my post to you. It was put out there in general. Back up.

There are things to be cleared up as the other members in this thread are under the assumption that the wax is being discontinued.

Again...no need to get your panties in a wad. My post was a general post to the thread. If it were intended for YOU I would have quoted the same way you did.

Okay..actually I thought that was what the quotes were for...so other readers know what the heck your talking about. Wasn't directed to you....like you said it was for the general public! Bad day...NO! Just stating what I was told! I AM A CUSTOMER AT GL TOO! If my panties were in a wad...rightfully so...we are the ones with NO wax! ..SO SORRY TO WHOM EVER GOT AFFENDED FOR ME SAYING WHY I NEEDED SOME HELP ON WAX DIRECTION! I thought that was what the forum was for! LeeAnn~

  12. I appreciate the heads up on this thread that I got. We have NOT decided to discontinue the 70/30 but we are considering it. I think anyone that knows us will tell you that we would never leave customers hanging. If we decide to discontinue the wax, we will always have a plan in place to take care of any users that were buying it from us.

All waxes can have inconsistencies that have to be dealt with from time to time, soy products being more prone to such issues IMO as not every soy crop turns out the same therefore the oil used to make the waxes can vary from batch to batch.

The 70/30 is a good product and we have had some very happy users and some not so happy users but that is why there are so many types of container waxes on the market. Some batches of the 70/30 were definitely more troublesome than others, which Brad was always informed by us of such issues and took care of them as well as he could. Many times GL took care of you with no assistance but we figure that is what we are here for.

Please, if anyone has any questions on this please contact us and we will be more than willing to assist you.

    Thanks

    Brenda

Brenda, I wasn't bashing you guys, never said you didn't keep your customers informed. All I said was the truth..what was told to me...We needed wax you had none in stock and did NOT know if you would be getting any in. Yes, you did not leave us hanging as I mentioned you guys gave us a number. Not sure what all this is about...we are the ones with no wax..sitting ducks. I told david we wanted to order bulk...pallet bulk! You guys didn't have that option....nor does the supplier you refered me too...but in a week they will. What is this forum for? I needed help to find a wax compared to my 70/30. Sorry if you guys took it the wrong way. Wasn't to bash or start a problem it was to get us wax A.S.A.P....! You guys have always been awesome help...all that being said...we still have to wait another week, or start blending our own...and I think we are just waiting...because we DID like the 70/30 so much! but who knows, we are not the first to have to change directions midstream. Have a great day...LeeAnn~

  13. I spoke with Brenda from GL today and they have NOT made a decision if they are going to discontinue the 70/30 wax. If anyone knows Brenda she does an excellent job of keeping her customers informed on what is going on.

So with that being said, they did say if they do decide to stop carrying the wax they will send out the appropriate notifications (emails, website notice, message boards, etc).

At this time, the wax is still available for purchase.

Hope this clears a few things up for some.

I do know David and Brenda, We personaaly deal with them for our wax and Jars! David informed me monday they had NO more 70/30 in stock and did NOT know if they would be getting anymore in. He gave me the number to there supplier! David and Brenda ARE very nice people. It was my right to to be looking for other wax due to what I was personally told.....So there is NOTHING to be cleared up! We spend alot of money on our jars and wax with them. And at this very moment we have NO wax...untill his supplier gets new pallets in! and then we are going directly through them...thanks to david keeping ME informed! Thanks, LeeAnn

  14. I tried 6006 with 415 in a few different combinations.... it was ok. I then tried J223 with 415 and liked it so much better.

    I ended up with a 75% 415 - 25% J223 and am quite happy with it!

    HTH

P.S. I found 415 to blend better than Ecosoya pure.

    Thanks a bunch! LeeAnn~

  15. Thats what I hear, the 6006 being 80% par. So I guess they are not the same but it is weird they were similar lot #'s. Got it from greenleaf but that is one of the reasons they might be not getting anymore in. Although they did get me the number to the guys that make it. At this moment they are not owning up to it either. They did say we can test slab it before buying bulk. So now we are sitting ducks till they get another batch next week. They have some there but I am wanting all the same batch. We will see how that goes. LeeAnn~

  16. So I have been reading and reading...and I came upon a thread talking about 6006 having a bad batch and the lot # 's started with 0700.....then I started reading some think 6006 is 50/50,some thought 70/30(blend) and I think it never got an exact answer....so where I am going with this is....my bad batch of 70/30 is 0700996...is it possible the 6006 and 70/30 is the same thing? I think it could be. We will be calling the manufactor today. Just thought I would throw that out there. Could be totally different and it just so happened they both had bad batches in 0700. Just my thoughts! LeeAnn~
