  1. everyone at my full time job knows I make candles and one guy is a total stoner so as a gag I made him a pot scented candle. The oil came from Peak and its called maryjane, OMG it STINKS! But needless to say instead of thinking it was a joke he loved it.:rolleyes2

  2. I was looking at some old threads and came across igi 6036 and it sounds like something I would like to try. Does anyone know where to purchase this wax. I found only 1 supplier called let it shine but it will be 32.00 with shipping just to get a sample.Anyone have suggestions? I'm in Illinois.

  3. Hi Everyone,

I received a candle as a gift(just what I needed:laugh2: ) and it had some cool colored shavings on top. The candle itself had no color and it was super soft, similar to 4627 but the colored shavings were hard. I would imagine they were paraffin. I would like to try this on my soy candles-does anyone know the technique? and what hard paraffin would I use?Oh also how do the shavings stick? would I apply them when the candle is cooling or just hit it after with the heat gun to get them to adhere?

Sorry for the long post and Thanks for any answers.

  4. I recently spoke to a wick supplier and they told me that it was probably my wicks. At that time I was testing eco's and they have a slight curl to them and they said it was heating the wax too hot therefore scorching it and discoloring it. I have since tested with other wicks with the same FO's and no more discoloration problems.

  5. weird. It reminds me of something totally off topic.. My husband and I went to a store to get a slushy drink and the clerk said it would be about a half hour for the slush machine to produce again because it was so frozen it got unfrozen. We still laugh at that to this day. I know it was one of those had to be there things but funny none the less because it made absolutely NO SENSE!!!!!! :laugh2:
  6. Oh good this is what I'm gonna do as I am trying yet another wax. I am not 100% sure that I love 464 w/ a little paraffin as wicking is still off but I'll keep testing. I just got a sample of 6006 which is a preblended parasoy and I've been searching the forums here for wick recs and found quite a few so I need to pour pour pour and did not want to blow through so much FO until I have somewhat of a starting point on wicks. Thank You

  7. Thanks -thats exactly what I thought because I have about 4 different popular kinds of 100% soy and I poured them all without additives and they look great until you burn them. This candle that I burned of theirs looks perfect from start to finish. What do you think they use as an additive???? microcrystalline or petrolatum maybe?? I am going to keep testing but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas I would love to test those as well. My goal is to have a soy candle that is soft and creamy and a little oily I guess you would say to the touch. I have achieved that somewhat by mixing soy with 4630 and 4627 but still can't get the perfect burn .

  8. Hello everyone- I am currently testing ( still) with 464 on its own and a 464 blend with a little paraffin. I am not trying to copy any of "the big guys" candles but I'm wondering if you may know how a company would get a 100% soy candle so smooth and creamy and still look perfect burn after burn. Here is the story, I purchased a Seda France 100% soy candle and the adhesion was perfect as well as the top. I thought after burning it would have a little film on the sides or bumpy tops but no. The throw is amazing but my question is how would the soy stay so smooth?? Could there be an additive?? if yes than could you still call them 100% soy?

  9. Hi

I am using a similar jar and I found some clear frosted labels from

onlinelabels.com,the size is 2.675" x 2" and I think they look pretty good. They have tons of sizes and colors and they will send you a sheet for free. HTH:smiley2:
