I wanted to try to make votives....from what I've been researching, is it true that I should be using unrefined? I've got some that i bought months ago for lip balm, but that's a different type..right?

Does anyone know if using dye flakes inhibits the mottling with 1343? I made a batch last night with my regular formula and it didn't mottle. I need to make a midnight blue-ish candle and can't get that color with just liquid dye. Thanks!
