  1. Hey, I just had the most wonderful experience with Fairway. I have been eyeing some tumblers that they have on their website for a pretty reasonable price. Especially since they ship from Atlanta which is the closest I can find to me over here in Alabama. (But they also have three other warehouses) I cant remember who it was I talked to, but he was so nice and gave me very detailed descriptions of the glasses as well as common customer opinions and preferences. They also are so confident in the quality of their glass that they send out free samples of it. I know a lot of places do that, but I have always had to pay at least the shipping for my "free" sample. Not Fariway's, they pay the shipping, too! How awesome is that! Anyway, I told him I was so happy with their customer service as well as their prices, that I wanted to offer them some positve word of mouth...er... post! Check them out if you havent already. Jay
  2. Thanks circle, I am ordering a kit of LXs and CDs today. So I am bound to have some luck eventually I also just ordered four new tumblers to sample so I will definately need all the wicks I can get. Looks like its gonna be a busy week. Jay
  3. Well I did some more searching and found a tutorial about wick twisting, so I am going to test that and see how it burns. If my results are still unsatisfactory, I will try to double wick. Oh, here is the link to the tutorial: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26017&highlight=twisting+wicks Jay
  4. I know that there is a plethora of posts regarding wicks on this forum, but I have been searching them for over an hour looking for something to help me out. The problem is that I have 10 oz apothecary jars with about a 3 1/2" diameter. I am using C-3 wax, no additives or color and a 9% FO. First I tried using LX 22 based on a wicking chart, it was not successful. So now I am trying CD 16 based off another wicking chart recommendation. I just finished my 4th burn test (each lasting 3 hours) and the meltpool is all off to one side (the direction of the curve in the wick) I just poured a new candle to test with the wick off centered, but read many posts where customers were not satisfied with the look. Some one mentioned "twisting" the wicks after placing them to get an even burn. I am not really sure what this entails. Should I just give in and double wick the jars. If so, any recommendations on what size wicks to use in that jar (double wicked). Thanks, Jaymo
  5. I am using 6 % but am going to move up because I am getting a nonexistant hot throw. I am going to try the max load for the wax like I have seen suggested in other posts, so I am going up to 9%. I am using C-3, but I am also going to experiment with GB 415 and Eco Soya CB 135. I have all three but started with the C-3. I am not presently using any dye, but I did purchase some chips in case I decided to.
  6. I have bought several cases of 10 oz apothecary jars. I found a website that suggested LX 22s for the diameter, but they are not working. The diameter is 3.375" and I really dont want to double wick. Does anyone single wick a jar close to this diameter? thanks so much Jay
  7. Thank you so much. That is just what I have been looking for. Also, thanks for the welcome.
  8. Hi again, Just curious what is the best way to find a local supplier. I am googled out. I am not so internet savvy. Is there a resource for locating such places if they exist. Or am I just doomed to pay outrageous shipping charges for all my stuff? Anyone have some insight. Much appreciated. Jaymo
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum and to candle making. There are sooooo many choices and variables to consider that I literally have a headache from looking at the computer screen for weeks. I see on a previous post that many people recommend the EZ soy wax. I found what I think is a pretty good price on it and am seriously considering purchasing it. I would like to know if anyone has any tips for working with this wax that may be useful for my test runs with it. Also, what size wicks would one recommend for a 10 oz Apothecary and for tealights. I have seen RR29 and RR34 recommended. Does anyone else agree? Thanks. Jaymo
