  1. I have my own ritual on how I tint my candles and was talking to a woman who did it almost totally oppisite of me. I couldn't believe how she did hers. So I am just kind of curious, what are your techniques? Do you use liquid, Chop up blocks, shave them? I shave mine. I try to keep the shaving as close to the same size as possible. And then count out the shavings and do it that way. Silly, eh?
  2. OK - So I finally bought Fudge Nut Brownie FO after seriously not considering it because I thought the smell would not be a good one. So I bought it, made the candle in 4630 8 oz. Apothecary jar. I have tested 3 different times in 3 new jars (same jar & recipe, just brand new candle). All three have tested wonderfully! And the scent throw....OMG!!! I have a candle burning in my family room which about 15 feet away from where I am sitting right now and it is so good smelling! I am so proud of myself! Another candle to put up on the make-again list! Don't 'cha love it when they turn out right!!!!! Just had to brag!
  3. What I do is use brown color to make wax that would make a cocoa. After the "cocoa" has completely cooled... I make a vanilla scented wax, use a little bit of beige color (not much). I wait for the wax to set up a little bit in the pot. I can still stir it and it's pliable but starting to set up. I put this on top of the cocoa wax.... making sure not to bury the wick. Wait for that to set and there's a cup of cocoa!
  4. Just wondering what everyone's preferences are. I have sample kits from BC, both for CD wicks and RRD. Making a candle tonight with RRD. Haven't tried them before so curious to see what they burn like.
  5. Welcome to the board. Glad to have another newbie to chat with!!!! I haven't been here long either, maybe a week or so but I have been making candles for awhile now. Anyway I am going to ask you the same thing I have been asked on several of my posts. I wanted to know what it feels like to answer the thread this time, LMAO! What type of wax are you using? size of wick? Additives? what are you pouring it at? is your cup clean? (don't touch the inside) How much FO did you add? Now I will offer a suggestion. Could be wrong wick. Too much FO. Not good enough candle calculation (meaning 90% wax 10% FO or something like that. We need more details to offer advice or wisdom. (pssst.... Did I do it right everyone? )
  6. Are they just whatever wax we choose to use and no wick or do they require a special wax? Like I said, newbie here. I tried to do a search but it keeps coming up internet explorer error.
  7. pgray1229 - I am new too! Hope that we can learn together.
  8. Are they easy? I like the look of them but was just wondering if I should even bother some day in the future.
  9. Just curious. Someone laughed at me when I told them I did this so I want to make sure I am doing it right. I always flip my pillars over after they come out of the mold (so the nice even, flat surface is now the top of the candle). That is correct, right?
