Noun: enigma ... u'nigmu. Something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained - mystery , secret , closed book

I use silicone 99.9% of the time, and my experience has been that i get those pesky pin holes if I pour too cool, rather than too hot. HTH

KNOWING doesn't mean they still won't....I have to relay this story.....on July 4th, my niece and her husband walked the block and a 1/2 to the park to watch the fireworks display being put on by their local fire department......(now I stress....she's normally a smart girl, and she KNOWS BETTER).....but she left a candle burning up high on her stereo cabinet......unfortunately, at the first BOOM of the fireworks....their normally calm pit bull dog went nuts and starting jumping all over everything, and you guessed it, knocked over the stereo cabinet with the burning candle......several minutes into the fireworks, all were dismayed to see the fire department leaving.....and going a block and 1/2 away.....at which time, my niece and her husband RAN home to find their home on fire, the dog being revived in the front yard, and the fire department flooding their home with water. Luckily....there was mainly only one room destroyed and plenty of water damage, but the dog is fine, and no one was hurt.....and a very valuable REPEAT lesson was learned. Unattended means that.....not "as long as its up high, away from combustibles and kids and pets", but NOT WHEN YOU AREN'T THERE TO WATCH IT!

Sorry......but I'm appalled that it would be suggested from a professional candle maker, that a candle be "duped". I hope most realize what hard work it is to CREATE something (especially a unique one of a kind, created from clay or ? with someone's own hands) and then MOLD it. Anyone can buy a dollar store item, and copy it into a mold, but it takes hard work, and a heck of alot of talent to do it from scratch.......if you don't believe that.......try it. Also......I have to wonder when mold makers picture the item they bought and then molded and not a candle made from their mold.........just my thoughts.
To get back to the post at hand, Jackie does unique one of a kind molds for baby showers.

Not that this MIGHT help.....but what is their mascot? My daughter's school was Dragons and I used Dragon's Blood.....may not be what you had in mind....just a thought!

I've been wanting to try these bears for SO long......however, I've been collecting bears for over 30 years....so I just can't bring myself to DO it. I've even bought bears with the intentions to dunk them......I just can't!! So Top.....this is all your fault I may never be able to do one of these bears I want to do!! Sigh

I do mostly food candles and tarts, and for MY use, silicone can't be beat to capture the identical detail of a food item, especially when the actual food is used to make the mold itself. Guess it would all depend on what kind of candles you are making.

Jackie has adorable baby molds in silicone!!!

Ok.......goofy question.......wouldn't the acrylic spray interfere with the smell of the candle? I'd love to hear from someone who's done this!
-
that is also what I use....however, sometimes takes more than one coat. I've tried the candle paint and it seems to be exactly the same as the acrylic with medium added....really wish there was a better way!

I love my Presto pot too. I used a double boiler method for 6 months before I switched. So glad I did. Use the Presto for cooking? hmmmmmm there's a novel idea that could catch on somewhere but probably not on this board! Actually if the Presto people realized how many are used as wax melters they'd probably change the name and raise the price.
OMG you're right......and I only have 3.....shhhhhhhh everyone, please don't tell them what we are using them for!! lol
-
I THINK I have one....that I'm sure I've never used (my moms house is all mauve and I had intentions of doing something for her and never did). I will look when I get home, and if so, I'll be happy to send it to you.....I will post back early this evening.

A leather punch works great! If you aren't aware what that is.....or if I'm calling it the wrong thing.......it's like a hole punch, with several size "holes"....they are used for punching holes in belts for example.

I bought a zillion (ok, maybe only 12) stainless steel cream pitchers from wal mart........and I fill them with the wax from the larger pot, and pour from those......almost no mess, and the warm wax peels right off of them....not very scientific, but it works for me. lol
-
Thanks so much.....thats exactly what I was looking for!!! I have to get some of these.....what a great Christmas present to myself! lol
-
I have a presto pot I use for melting, then a giant stainless steel laddle for dipping it out.........I KNOW I had these instructions once upon a time, but can't find them......does anyone have the link to "how to add the spigot/spout"......or where can I buy one already done (from a supplier). I think I'd love to have a few of these!
Thanks!!

I use the liquid soap water based dye.....it does smell somewhat, but not once they are completely dry. They do take awhile to do, but the color is uniform and in my case, dark, since thats the color I wanted. I purchased some small spray bottles from Oak Court where I got the blanks, and apply my fo that way. There may be a better way, but these come out SO cute, I hate to mess with a good thing. My friend has used the liquid candle color mixed with the fo and she didn't like it since the colors were more "streaky". She didn't say what color or fo she was using, so don't know if that had anything to do with the "streaky" or not.
