  1. I do a variation of RTCP. I masterbatch all my oils. Melt them down and seperate them out into individual containers for soaping. If they have cooled too much, I zap them gently in the microwave before I add the lye. My recipe is what "I" consider 50/50. Others consider it 100% hard oils.

  2. When I have used calendula, I infused it in my oils. When I was ready to soap it, I strained it out. Once my soap was to light trace, I added about 1T ppo (of the oil infused calendula) back into the batch.

I tried to take out as much as possible because the stick blender chops it up pretty good. I sprinkled a few petals (dry) on top the soap once I was done making it. It turned out nice IMHO.

    HTH

  3. Body sprays. What suggestions would you have citrus and coconut based scents (I don't want a straight fruit slices and I don't think I want a straight cocobutt either.) Any ideas? CS Lemon Verbena

And while at it, are florals just a no no? I mean a floral suggestion that isn't heavy or cloying ought to be fine, but what about florals just gives people the shivers any more?

And if we talk about vanilla, does anyone else think it smells funky in a non-alcohol base? CS Very Vanilla would be my choice. But I don't know how it would play.

I am debating over a body spray line. Thing is most people want anything a person isn't considering carrying. We're pretty convinced that we need to do lavender, because it's among our top sellers and if we don't have it, someone will ask for it. Same with lilac (but that would be limited to seasonal only and we're actually going to wait to see if people ask for it ... we're both betting they do, but still we're going to wait and see.)

Apparently anything sandalwood is still a popular suggestion, but at the same time so is anything patchouli lol. WTH happened to amber? Man!

SO amuse me with some five fragrance suggestions for consideration and please make at least one of them a citrus suggestion. I just want to see what people's opinions and choices are and why. If it were me, everything would be of a patch, amber or sandalwood background and that already causes one problem.

    1. Lavender--have to have it but I HATE it

    2. Black Raspberry Vanilla.. may kill a couple of birds with one stone.

    3. Dupes of B&BW.. while not necessarily what you like.. I think it would go over well because they are "known"

    4. Rapture!!! lol

    5. 1 seasonal scent --or spa ish scent. CS Day at the Spa or mebbe a bamboo scent for spring. Clean scent for summer. Not sure for fall. This could be where the Patch/Amber/Sandalwood could fit in. CS Cranberry Marm for winter.

  4. It's basically a version of a bath bomb.

I would revise it like this:

    2 cups finely ground sea salt 1 1/2 c

    1/2 cup baking soda

    1/2 cup cornstarch

    1/2 c Citric Acid

2 tablespoon light oil (fractionated coconut oil) I would use regular coconut oil

    1 teaspoon vitamin E oil

2 eggs omit and replace with 2Tb oil

1 oz. Sugar Cookie Fragrance Oil

Suggested usage rate of Broad Spectrum Preservative I would omit this as long as each one is a single use item.

    Body safe soap colorant

Don't bake them. Place in round mold. Make sure you compress them tightly. Decorate as desired. You may also want to spray the molds before hand with some PAM spray. Leave until somewhat hard and pop them out.

  5. Thank you so much! I wasn't sure how it was going to come out, because when I was cutting it the next day it was real spongy, felt like I was slicing scrapple. Now with each day that goes by I notice it getting harder. When you package this type of soap do you want to keep it open of is it ok to place it in plastic bags?

No I didn't start another batch yet, I did find a recipe that says it gives a lot of lather I would love to try.

Leave it out for awhile to cure more. You can cover it to keep it from getting dusty. I wouldn' t put it in plastic bags though. It still needs cure time.

    Where are you in PA?
