  1. I have been doing a lot of testing lately and finally all of my 16 oz container jars are finished burning. Each of them has roughly 3 oz of wax left is this acceptable if not how do you fix this and allow less wasted wax. Currently there is roughly 1/2 inch of wax on the bottom.
  2. I use GB 444 and pour at 135 and i heat my jar to 150 degrees and i seem to be getting a good top plus limited wet spots. If i see something out of place i use a heat gun to fix it. So far so good with 20 or so 16 oz jars.
  3. Went to an outlet store and looking at their candles they seem to be very crude. Just observed alot of air pockets discoloration and overall poor appearance. I didnt buy one since it was 21 dollars for a 20oz jar. Is it me or is this normal for their candles? They seem very poor.
  4. Is this a 16 oz apothecary or mason? How many inches across? apothecary 3.75 inches I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but RRD wicks have a directional flow, meaning there is a right side up to them. No i didnt know that thanks a ton for the info :smiley2: I got pretabbed for now so i hope they come right side up.
  5. Woops sorry forgot about what wax i use its GW415.
  6. and for the most part a starting point is all anyone can give you. What works for me wont work for you at exact lvls even. I use RRD wicks but there are several wicks to be had between cotton wicks zinc middle wicks and others. Each has its own unique burn to it and pool, and for me i like them. Yet at the beginning i tried every type of wick and it drives me crazy all of the combos =(. For me I start with the guideline for my wick and then burn it for 4 hrs if after 4 hrs for me i really havnt been able to see a good idea of what my candle will do with less burn times. I have exact image of what each of my candles will look like as a smellable product that is safe and looks good from the 1st light to the last. True each candle has its own characteristics but remember Quality Control. And thats what testing each candle is about in the end making sure your QC is the best it possibly can be.
  7. I have done some testing and so far they seem pretty good, i just wanted to find out what others experience with them. I am currently testing a 16 oz jar with a rrd55 wick with 1 oz of FO and 4 drops of color. Makes a really nice coffee colored candle occasionally leaves the tops kinda cottage cheese like but normally leaves it pretty clean. 55 rrd wick for me almost burns side to side just not totally. I really dont want to double wick but going to see by the time the candle is totally burned. This will be my only perfect candle.
  8. no you throw everything orange away. They are just used to keep things from breaking or leaking during shipping.
  9. No offense but she could be selling those candles from the get rich quick site that pre package everything and do all of the testing for her. Which then it really isnt a hobby and she is getting a canned product with no life of its own and originality. She is just selling the same thing others do (she just puts it together). I dunno but i have been doing this for 1 week and already would be leary if i didnt test anything and just poured in a jar and sent it out the door with a price tag. So far in the week i have done it. The wick size i was told to use worked "fine" but i found by testing another that produces a better throw and looked better. So far in a week due to my own testing i found out the recomended coloring was "fine" but due to some experimenting my color combo looks better and got more compliments. So far in a week i found that using less scent made a better candle than more scent I also found out some tricks like doing a double melt did a nice job making the tops look great. I found out that using too small of a wick caused a horrible looking candle top. I know others will laugh at me but if just in a week i figure this little out i can only imagine in a year what things will look like. I also will look at insurance cause god only can imagine if someones kid lights their house on fire due to my candle or heck my own house burns down due to my own candle. I also figure once my pool of 10 people love every candle i make then it will be time to start small with them and word of mouth. For me i want to grow as slow as possible since you can produce a better product growing very fast is very bad for a company.
  10. Usually color laser printers dump ink through out the printer and over time it builds up on the internal parts. Usually this means it needs to be cleaned out or you need a new cartridge.
