  1. What I find works well is pouring the wax into the molds and after the wax sets up, if you have a small drill bit, just drill a small hole for the wick. This might sound more time consuming but on the other hand if your having trouble with your pins getting stuck and causing damage to your votives that's taking up time and creating possible waste. This technique might help things go smoother for you and eliminate sticky pins and broken votives. JMO. What works for one may not work for another. Hang in their and experiment to find what works for you.

  2. Thanks for the heads up Mike. I've been thinking about ordering fo's from CS and like their soy rating. I use GB415 and it's been hit or miss with fo's, (more miss than hit :sad2:). At 99 cents it would be a good time to try lots of fo's to see what works.

  3. I bought a double boiler ring at northstar. Place the ring in the bottom of my sauce pan, fill my sauce pan with some water and set my wax pot on top of the ring. This keeps the wax pot off the very bottom of the lower pot to avoid over heating or scorching your wax. The ring works great, it's fairly heavy and doesn't "pop" and jump around in the pan. Hope this helps.

  4. I'm looking for some nice floral scents, (nothing too overpowering) for 415 soy. Maybe someone could chime in with their opinions on the following:

    English Garden

    Gardenia

    Golden Rose

    Honeysuckle Jasmine

    Love Spell

    Plumeria

Feel free to suggest other CS florals not mentioned here that might be good ones. TIA.

  5. I've tried several different mac apple fo's in my 416 tarts and have noticed an odd "dirt" type smell with all of them. Maybe it's just my nose.

:yay:Yippie! CandleScience is having a 99 cent fo sale. Could anyone recommend a sweet/tart appley type scent that isn't like mac apple that I could try from CS? I guess at 99 cents I could try them all to see which one I like best, I just like others opinions  TIA

  6. I thought I was going crazy with this wax and thought for sure I was doing something totally wrong with it. Jami, your sooo right about the frosting, it's waaayyy beyond frosting, it's like a wet tart rolled in cornstarch or something, very ugly! I guess I'll try mixing it with some other wax to take the edge off the powdery residue. I hate to waste all this 416 that I've managed to stick myself with. Back to the old drawing board. Good luck with your 416 blend.

  7. It's too bad the nature of this beast has to be so ugly. The most important thing with tarts is scent throw. unfortunately, with pure soy, they can have a good scent throw but look ugly at the same time. Being a perfectionist, I need something that smells good and looks half way descent, I'm thinking about tossing the 416 behind me and moving on to something else. If anyone is interested in some GB416 let me know, I've got 43 pounds looking for a new home lol.

  8. Hello everyone! I've been working with Golden Brands 416 tart wax for approx 8 months now. Overall, I'm not impressed with the looks of these tarts. The firmness is nice, HT and CT seem satisfactory for the most part but the longer this wax cures the uglier it gets. I have some tarts that have been curing for a couple of months that look like a dry, white, powdery mess, they almost look like they are disintegrating. I've heated, added fo, (no dye) and poured this wax at different temps, I've used different fo's from different suppliers and have been told to add a bit of crisco to help with the dryness and I still get the same dry, powdery results. I've contacted different suppliers that sell this wax, (even Jason at GB) and was told that they have never had this type of complaint about this wax before. Is this dryness just the nature of the beast with this wax? Has anyone else experienced similar characteristics of this wax? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA.
