Then why not just offer the ones that mix well? Save yourself some grief. And I am all for that!
-
Try 95% cyclo and 5% FO. Or 90/10. That seems to work for me, too.
-
Neem oil is also great to use for acne soap. Smells to high heaven, but it's a great addition.

I have some bath and body works home fragrance oil, the ones that come in the .33 oz. Are these okay to use in making soy candles? Please do not tell me to "search" as I have already tried that. If you do not have something nice to say in your answer please do not respond. Sorry for the attitude, but there are a lot of rude people on here!
Oh, really?

That's a beautiful swirl. Good job!
-
For a first swirl I wouldn't worry too much about it not going all the way through. I don't do CP but I understand that the higher you hold your color(s) the deeper they go.
We need to see the cut pictures anyway!

That is a beautiful swirl. Do you have pictures of this soap cut? You know we need to see those pictures.

Just my never-to-be-humble opinion here, but hand sanitizers will kill germs that don't necessarily need to be killed. Simply washing ones hands properly and often enough will do everything you need your soap to do. Nothing needs to be added to the fabulous soaps that all of us make!

Congrats! I love HP in the crockpot.

Why don't you weigh it when you pour into your containers then weigh again later. I suspect settling is, indeed, the problem.
-
Oh, Kest, what gorgeous soap.
-
I usually add fragrance in an amount that suits my nose, starting with just a few drops and adding more if needed.
-
Use just plain ol' table salt. Epsom salt is NOT actually salt--it's magnesium sulfate--so I don't believe I'd use it in soap. Now, mind you, it makes a wonderful bath salt ingredient.

I add sugar at equal the weight of the oils/butters and it's a really good consistency. One thing I figured out by trial and error was to melt and blend all the oils first, let it all solidfy, remelt and add the preservative, FO and sugar. For some reason it acts better that way.
-
I truly don't think it's the sugar, but, hey, I could be wrong. I make a kick-butt sugar scrub and have tried several FOs, with my fave being Pink Sugar, and have never had the fragrance morph in any way.
OK, I was absolutely no help whatsoever! :rolleyes2
-
Yep, that's what Pink Sugar does. :rolleyes2 I've learned to live with it as it's still one of my fave scents, too.
-
My body sprays are made with cyclomethicone, FCO, and FO and they are wonderful.
-
I make a fabulous soap without palm oil. But I would never let Lush or any other vendor influence my ingredients list. Period.

Yesterday I talked with someone from another forum who makes wine soap and she simply decants the wine overnight. No problems with the alcohol at all.
-
Wine can be used as the liquid in your soap, but all of the alcohol content will need to evaporate before it can really be used.
A friend of mine makes beer soap and when I asked about boiling out the alcohol she didn't know why that would have to be done. She simply lets the beer go flat. Can you explain your reasoning?

Am I missing something here? A link?

i was reading a lotion bottle at a friends and it contained sodium hydroxide in it and it was labeled organic sold on a green website does anyone know the benefits of this in a lotion?
Laura
Why wouldn't lye be organic?
-
Virtually all lotions contain NaOH. For lotions, the NaOH is used to "neutralize" the fatty acids and to make the carbon chains "more friendly" (better able to interact) with your skin. In other words, to adjust the pH.

Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann Fabrics have them.
