  1. I don't have much to add that others haven't said much more eloquently than I ever could, but I want you to know I'm thinking about you and hope you can get this worked out so YOU are feeling much better about it all. Whew, that was a run-on sentence, wasn't it?

Buck up, Girlie, with a margarita in one hand and a good bar of chocolate in the other. Always good for what ails you!! :whoohoo:

Hang in there, you'll be fine. And we're all pulling for you.

  2. Lots and lots and lots and lots of red poinsettias. "Black tie" doesn't necessarily mean a black and white theme, so add a real punch of color with tons of red poinsettias in varying sizes. In front of the fireplace if you have one, on your steps if you have some, on the buffet in your dining room. Just everywhere!!! Oh, what fun to have a great Christmas party. We'll be having one, too, a week earlier but not formal. I can't wait!! santa chee

  3. Hi, Jen---KY's soy whip is THE BOMB! I love that stuff. However, it is very very dense so will have to be scooped out and put in something that can be squeezed easily if you're using tubes (HDPE plastic). I put mine in round flat tubs and it's easily scooped out. It will have a bit of rubbery texture (that bothers some folks but not me) but it scoops out fairly easily. The effect of the whip on my skin is worth every bit of the effort of getting it out of the big jar and into a smaller container. I wouldn't add anything except FO to the whip as it may mess with the preservative already in it. Believe me, you won't need to add anything else to it. And speaking of FOs, since I buy this only for my own use, I put the FO in to my own particular liking, so I can't give you a specific measurement per oz or gram or whatever.

    And welcome to the addiction!!!

  4. what a fan-tabulous idea! Jars on hot plates have always worried me because wax expands... I have visions of a glass container shattering...

Plus it seemed a little backwards to heat the wax from the bottom up - cause the scent escapes from THE TOP...

Yes, wax expands but not enough to cause problems since it goes UP. If the container was tightly capped while being heated, I would worry. Otherwise, don't lose sleep over expanding wax in a glass container.

However, these items are certainly interesting...

  5. I don't know if using wine in a scrub is a good idea or not but if you are making a scrub with sugar and oil the wine may cause separation as it is not oil and will need to be emulsified ...using and emusifying wax.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong here.

My scrubs ARE emulsified and preserved. For what it's worth. :)

  6. Um, maybe I misinterpreted, Jami said she used 40% oils and my recipe only had 25% oils. To me, that sure sounds like 'add more oils'.

[Michi: Try backing down on your CB before adding more oils. It seems like that is the way it's supposed to be (harder) from looking at the recipe.]

    *******************************************************

I'm with you, BabyCakes, sounds like you were being advised by BOTH to add more oils. I don't think you misinterpreted at all.

Please don't chastise her for reiterating what YOU said.

  7. I was thinking about trying out bamboo powder for scrubs.

What an interesting ingredient for a scrub. I'm thinking of bamboo powder for my regular everyday facial cleanser--I'm currently using honey powder, a titch of kaolin, and liquid soap. But bamboo powder, hmmmmm. :rolleyes2

  8. I've never had a problem with the sugar dissolving in my sugar scrubs--of course I put the same weight sugar as the weight of the oils and, boy, is it scrubby forever! Love it, love it, love it.

If you add pumice to your scrub be sure to warn AGAINST using it on the face. It's far too abrasive for faces. :undecided
