I don't have a straight chocolate but I do use BCN's "CHOCOLATE COVERED BERRIES" and it smells awesome! I use it for my CP and M&P soaps, Lotion and Body Sprays. Seems like it attracts more to the younger bunch of gals.
HTH
bcn says this is a "no" for body but yes for bath? i wonder what the difference is. ???????? maybe cajun's is safe for bath but not body. i asked and they didn't know. they just go with what the manufacturer says. i wonder if they would give up their phone number !

great ideas on the giving of samples, be like a mary kay or other make up lady, hand it out baby! that's how alot of them succeed, for every one you come in contact with you are one step close to a repeat customer. i am going with the school fundraiser. send a brochure to schools near you with a sample for the teacher that is in charge of the fund raisers. there is a good way to hook some repeat customers! and giving them out to an office where they will burn them will get people to ask where the heck did they get that great smellin candle and your label will let them know. make your webaddres on the candle big enough to see with out having to pick up the candle to read it and ending up spilling it! my hubby has offered free delivery for our candles, who doesn't like free delivery. (local only)

i have been thinking of these forever and never act on it cause one thread leads my brain off in another direction.
i sell woodwick candles (sold) in my store and everyone wants them, when i had them i couldn't keep them. i don't sell them anymore cause their containers suck, they broke constantly!
however everyone loves them so that would be a great candle to get into making.
i want to find these wicks as well.
here i come and go again!

earlyamericancandle.com has supplies, palm wax, c3 etc.

okay i got my snippers from walmart, in the dog section!! i use dog nail clippers. they work great unless your container neck is really long.
-
i got the body butter base and lip base from nda and asked them and they recommend 1% fo for body butter and .5% for lip fo. if it is eo they say " We recommend that no more than 0.5% of any essential oil be added to our cosmetic bases. Exceeding this amount may destabilize bonds between the ingredients"

the chemistry store has a nice selection with descriptions. i wanted the coffee butter but at 20 bucks a pound, not today!

katshe,
where are you from? earlyamericancandle.com is located in pittsburgh. i get wax from them, they have everything someone would need to start out or to stock up. you can call and ask for help, they are great people. to get wax from them it is $21 for me but i am in the same ups zone as them. check em out.
-
i believe someone also said they melt it first then add wax. i got some yesterday and will be trying it tomorrow, ANYTHING to avoid a sinkhole!
-
okay i did it, i slooooowly cooled a palm in my oven along with a palm in a pumpkin mold and it turned out great. i'll add a pic here in a bit.

i am thinking (hard) of doing the chocolate festival we have here at a local resort. i am going(thinking) to do chocolate candles and b&b. do you have any best sellers to suggest or you fav recipes that would fit the festival? tia!!!
-
i also use c3 since it came out. looking for a better wick but i think once you figure it out it is a great wax. i gave up on color so i don't have to worry about frosting, i make my label with a picture of the scent and sell them just as well as the colored ones.
:rolleyes2

that is what my husband always tells me! lol! okay i may have a illness. i have the cannot focus on one project illness!
-
oh yeah, btw, i belive my problem was that i poured too cool. i am used to the cooler wax. thanks again!

thanks you guys! i will try, and try again! still one question lingering about the palm and electric candles. i am sure i'll find an answer eventually.
-
According to candlescience instructions for their palm, they say to cool slowly and suggest using a cookie sheet to keep it off of counter which might make it cool to quick. I like using the dish drain. I just posted a picture of my palm I did yesterday. Putting their palm in the freezer to cool, probably not get the crystals-glow effect.
I don't warm my jars.
very pretty, that is what my color test looked like but not my finished product. what dye do you use, blocks, liquid?
-
the odd finishes were alittle hummmmmmmmmmm, not smooth, a bit crystally, almost rough like when you add waaaay to much fo (by accident), maybe a bit flakey looking. at 140 i get a nice smooth top but usually i get a, not really sink "hole", but the top drops slightly and i get a crack around the wick, a circular indentation. i gave up on color so i use no dye anymore just 1 oz of fo per lb.
oops, stella this was for you

do you warm your jars? i don't if i am pouring c3 cause i don't use color anymore. when i do (did) a color test i always throw it in the freezer to get a quick set just so i can view the color, i did that with the palm and it was like a metallic purple, it was awesome but when i poured, no such luck. does too much color effect it? i use liquid and i was doing a cabernet grape so i needed a rich color so maybe i used to much dye.

okay i have been reading so much this evening on the board i am going to barf :lipsrseal if i don't get off this computer! (where'd the green smiley guy go?) i bought a 50 pounder of crystal palm from candlewic. did a small test for color and it was beautiful! however poured the candle and
yucko! a weird not pretty finish. no crystals on the sides just alittle on top. great cold throw but ugly. any suggestions? also have any of you electric candle makers used palm for the molds. i was also thinking of seeing what a c-3 mixed with palm would work out like. just thinking what to do with 50 lbs!
fillmore has fo! for soy especially c-3!

they have an 800 number. call them and tell them what you said here. it would benefit them to drop the minimum order due to selling fo and being new. if people tell them hey, i'll try them but $40 is too high so i'll have to try new fo somewhere else, hopefully it would help. i wanted some choco samples from wellington and theirs is $100! or $10 tacked on, no thanks.
