Oh Gail....if you tried the Texas Candly Supply Leather...oh it is just the best! Belinda (thank you!, thank you girl!  :)) told me about it when I just could not find a good leather. That leather from TCS is heavenly ....try blending it with tobacco from Aztec...soooo good! :)

I'm going to place an order today from TCS for the 12 1oz samples for $21.00 any other "must haves" from there? Thank you!

Gail now you have me intrigued with the leather FO, maybe I'll give it a try one day :) Do you use 1oz pp with wax - or is that a FO that you use less.

Great names you guys - such a clever bunch :)

Moonstar I used 1 oz of the Leather from Southwest Candle Supply in 1 pound of Kysoy125.....I really could have used 3/4 oz and it would have been good, when my order gets here I will try it and let you know! ;)

  4. Please note that any western type fragrances I have mentioned in my posts have been from Southwest Candle Supply not Texas Candle Supply......I haven't tried TCS yet! For some reason I got them mixed up in my post ? not sure why I got them mixed up but just realized it today and thought I should clarify as to not mislead anyone........wow......kind of scary! My excuse is working 12 hours a day,  7 days a week for over 1 month and trying to do some candles too! Lol! Sorry for any confusion!

I don't overindulge in this place, so ... I can tell you by rumor only. However they have a fresh cut yankee rose version that might be something you look at too.

I'll be pouring canella bark soon, so I can comment on it then.

I want to try the amaranth jasmine, anisette cookies, mandarin sandalwood, sugared vanilla shortbread, smoked apple wood.

See most of what I tried from here ... Paris d'Amour and grapefruit jasmine as exceptions ... are either sitting on a shelf to do (think Rattlesnake grass and cobblestone - not offered any more and few others not offered any more -) or have stumped me on how I want to use them. We used their bay laurel, which I thought was a very nice scent and no one else did. I order from this place when I need wicks and they have their sale I guess one could say. I also have a lot of scents and don't get to play around much till I use them. This company included.

That mandarin sandalwood sounds really good and so does the smoked Apple wood! The grapefruit jasmine sounds interesting.......It may be a while before I try CS, my shipping location here in ND is much higher than my more central location in IL.......thank you for your reply it's much appreciated:)

  6. Thank you so much moonshine for all the information......the Sweetgrass blended with hayride, Apple and grass sounds great!  I think I would really like the oatmeal, milk and honey also. They all sound great! How long have you been offering the western scents and do customers really go for them in your area?

  7. Belinda or anyone that's working on western type candles........has anyone tried mixing Leather with a dupe of Vanilla Lace? I have the Vanilla Lace from Just Scent but my little sample of TCS leather is all gone. Am working on an order for them right now;)

  8. How nice for you to live so close to TCS!  So far I have liked all of the fragrance samples from there and love the jars with the horses on them!  I am placing an order tomorrow and will get a sample of Cowboys At The Beach. Thank you for response:)

  9. I didn't think I would like any leather scent but I absolutely love the one from Texas Candle Supply.......I want to use it straight but also mix with other fragrances for the western line I'm working on! Their Mexican Vanilla is a real nice one too. Bitter Creek North has a nice leather also,  quite different from TCS but good!

I'm only going to offer 6 western fragrances to start out and then add more if it works out. I think a good coffee scent might work, leather, leather mixes, sweet grass n sage.......now I'm rambling! Happy candle making everyone!

  10. Probably a silly question but here goes.......Is there any Rose fragrance that is fairly delicate yet still throws really well? Does that make sense/scents? ??  I have used Fresh Cut Roses from RE and its good but would like a more delicate one!

  11. Thank you for responding Vicky.  It's just the most recent ones and I think I may have found out what is wrong. I've had to go to a printing company here in the Bismarck area to help design some new labels, so I asked them about it yesterday. The first thing she asked me is whether or not the labels had been kept in storage or in an area where it was hot in summer and cold in winter for long periods of time. Well the answer was yes......the adhesive stopped working due to almost five years of varying temps. Lol this starting over thing has presented me with more problems than my original startup in 1999-2000!  Again, thank you! Enjoy your day!

  12. Well,  I finally got all the state requirements taken care of and my insurance for a year.  However, a few weeks ago all of the jar labels including the new warning stickers, have started coming loose on the edges on every jar!  In all the years I've been making candles I have never had this happen......do you suppose there is too much humidity in the studio? The jars were washed before using.  I can't think of any other reason this would happen. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Thank you in advance:)

  13. Hi everyone, hope I'm putting this in the right place, if not just let me know. Finally found the jars I want to use for the western line of candles I'm working on. I will have to use the clear, plastic lids on them though and that's okay but the jars have pictures on them and no room for my labels!  Can I get caution labels with room for company name, phone and fragrance? Love the jars! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
