1. Hello! Just want to share this...the very first soap I made was this glycerine soap that I scented with lovespell, I've never used them so instead I made a cp milk soap last night, diced the glycerine and added it at trace. I then scented it again with lovespell and peppermint EO, I insulated it full on till morning and I find that by doing this it will avoid the ash, inspite of it being milk! Hope you like the look!
2. Hi, getting the right color is very tricky, even good quality liquid dyes don't give true colors unless you mix them with other colors. I get true orange color if I add red with the orange, or apple green color comes out perfect if you add yellow to green! Sorry can't help with what you're after, IMO liquid dye is better although expensive! Try Bcreek though. HTH... ~marie:)
3. I had these shapes using spwax, they've been on my cupboard for a year now, so I thought maybe I can make use of them as a top off! Hope you like the look! I called it 'candy carnival'. ~marie:)
4. Hi, That shipping charge sounds like UPS! of course way out expensive! When you place an order through, it's best to send an email first and find out if they shipped using USPS and how much! JIMO... ~marie
5. Hi, You may try CD10, it works for me! it may sound a bit large for votives but since they melt all the way down it's just right! hth... ~marie:)
6. Hi kmommy, remember me? it's been a long time since I've been here and there's lots of new people around but it's good to see some familiar 'faces'!!! anyways, after all these years I also have done some tests on blends and they are just so easy compared to the 100% soy like always! of course being too conscious but a little p will not hurt right? So based on a lb of wax, I add only 2% or 14oz + 2oz, just very little enough to make it smooth and still creamy. (i that the right percentage?? not sure!!lol!!) As for sooting, it still soots anyway due to some oils, there really is no such thing as soot free, but of course it will not blacken your walls like pure P! as for the 135, yeah, I must agree it is very disappointing, that has always been the problem with that wax!!! hth... ~marie:)
7. well I can't help but post a reply about this! Just to vent!!! Now I started reasearching and testing and testing even up to now with soy since late 2001, this was so unheard of then in Aus, then early this year along came this network marketing candle company, equivalent or branch of that other one and all of a sudden soy candles started sprouting from nowhere and poorly made! it upset me 'coz here I am banging my head off to make a "nearly" perfect soy candle and this people are making soy candles overnight! They're making it look like soy candles are just ordinary candles, in fact they've been selling them cheaper than the US ones! I buy their candles and I'm so disappointed with the quality and people might think all soy candles are the same!! Gosh!!! it is so upsetting! But not to worry, I said to myself! I'd rather have few customers who keeps coming back than sell an awful candle!! oh well...thanks for listening!!:rolleyes2 No offence made to members of this network marketing co!!!
8. Tell me please, when can you say a soy pillar candle burns perfect? or what is a perfect soy pillar for you??? Haven't burned a pillar soy candle before except my own, can't tell if it's good or not!!! ~Marie:confused:
9. Thanks a bunch awicked scent! I'm glad you told me, I'm disappointed!:embarasse oh well might as well drive to Vegas!!!
10. Hi smellywax! Where's half moon bay? which way??LOL!!! I don't even know where to go!!! Thanks for that link, I'll check it out!!! I must not come back home without seeing some of those craft fairs! can't wait!!! ~M:yay:
11. Hi everyone, I will be in San Fran by first week of December, and I'd love to visit some craft markets around that area. Any suggestions for some best ones instead of wasting my time? Thanks guys, much appreciated! Can't wait to be there!!!:yay:It will be our first cold christmas! ~Marie:grin2:
12. Hi, this tureen jars is really hard to wick because of the roundish shape in the middle, so no matter how you single wick it will never have a full mp. So what I did was double wick (no choice!!) using 2 x CD6 and it worked, the sides were really clean, having a full mp in 4 hours.:smiley2: thta's my latest Tureen jar, this is in fact only 8oz. JIMO..HTH***** ~M
13. Hi everyone, First I'd like to say it's good to be back! Although I haven't posted for awhile, I still check-in and read some posts, then all of a sudden I can't get in!!! So that's what happened! Thanks Alan! Now to the question about palm pillars...I've tried making pillars for the first time using palm and soy, the crystals were still there, it was hard and really burned like a pillar but my comment is the palm wax has such a strong smell that it overpowers the FO. This is JIMO! I don't know if your palm wax has a smell but mine has! But I also agree that palm pillars look so good, I like the rustic look from the outside! It burns well too, but what do I know with pillars? For me, so long as they burn and create a crater and does not melt down like a votive, then it's good!! JIMO... I missed you all guys!! have you changed your usernames??? Is that why everyone seems new??? I didn't so you'll still recognised me!! ~Marie
