  1. Hi!

After a friend of mine found out she had breast cancer, at only 37 years old, I have been tossing this idea around. I would like to make a cancer candle and donate the proceeds for cancer. Does anyone know if the pink ribbon is copyrighted? I thought it might look nice on the label. I'm thinking it probably is:sad2:

  2. Lol-too funny - I am like your testers as well....can't stand big balls on my candle!

I recently went to our local farmers market and a company in a surrounding area was there selling their candles- I have heard of them and their website shows lots of wonderful reviews....of course I had to inquire without letting on that I make candles as well and bought one - expensive I have to say and they claim to use all EO and even distill the plants themselves and use that as well- the cold throw knocked you out but needless to say burning it you can't smell a thing not even in a half bath and the mushroom is the biggest and worst I ever came across- and I have come across alot of them- that made my day to know my candles are definitely superior to that! Lol IMO anyways

But anyways I got off track- I am still playing with the 3022 also off and on and I really do like the wax, not enough to switch over completely from soy but enough to consider adding a parasoy line down the road (using 3022) - I have had the best luck with wicking using CDN's also, I still get some sooting which drives me nuts - I hate seeing that as much as mushrooms but playing with FO loads seems to help some- I haven't played with it in a few months I need to get back at it- the free slab has lasted me forever but I only test using 1 pound at a time

I will take big balls over black smoke any day! Lol

  3. How about Leaves..I get mine from Aztec..it is pretty close to the original..(imo). Bonfire Bliss to me smell's similar to Marshmallow Fireside..it is good and strong as well. I have NG's bacon scent as well..it is strong![/quote

I've never ordered from Aztec! I'll have to check that oil out. I love MF! It's one of my fav candles ever!

  4. Hi! I have not tried these but I do order some fragrances from these companies. Nature's Garden has "Cracklin Birch"; "Cracklin Firewood" and "Fireplace" (I did try a sample of this one and it does smell like wood smoke.) All got good reviews. For a little bit of adventure and silliness go to Save on Scents novelty fragrances ( http://www.saveonscents.com/index.php/cPath/291_366 ) and look for "Smoke" as in wood smoke, "Gunpowder" and for laughs "Skunk". Skunk got mixed reviews however....

Thanks much! I do have NG Crackling Birch! I like it a lot but it smells like a mans cologne to me. Think I have a smoke scent, forgot about that one:)

  5. Cedarwood and Cucumber + Dirt (any type) + Rosemary = good cool foresty scent.

If using Gaia try adding a little Orris either in the EO or FO. It imparts a musty dry violet smell that enhances it nicely. Lastly, for a damp forest smell try adding a little of SOS's new Mushroom to Oakmoss. It's awesome. Smells just like shittake alcohol and has a unique distinction of smelling cold, slightly metallic and very pungent earthy. a little goes a long way.

You are amazing with your descriptions and knowledge of mixing oils!:grin2:

  6. I love 3022 and use it for both candles and tarts. Makes a beautiful candle with great ct/ht and the tarts are strong and long lasting. For me, its much cheaper to purchase by the case directly through Clarus...hth

Would you mind sharing what type of wicks you used? I just ordered some of this wax but have no clue for a starting point for the wicks to try! TIA!

  7. I would be in heaven!! Yeah it's pretty slim pickings here. It's so much easier when you can go and sniff before you buy. I grew up in Minnesota and moved away before I had started making candles. Had I known about Sweetcakes, let me tell ya!

I have never tried SW oils..wonder if I'm missing something??

  8. OMG - lol you may have more from BCN than I do, but for fall, I think you should definitely try Spiced Cranberry, Amish Friendship Bread and their new (vs original) Fresh Baked Bread. BCS has some excellent FOs too, btw ...

There is a Honey Pear Cider, too. It's interesting!

I tried the HPC and it was super good OOB but not much hot or cold throw in soy:(
