  1. How do you determine the percentage of fo's. I know generally it is recommened 1oz per lb. But I have been seeing %'s a lot on this board. Here is an example that I found at wholesale supplies plus today.

    fo: witches brew

    • Soy & Paraffin Wax (Maximum Use 6-10% - See Wax)

could someone please explain this to me.

  2. I'm ready to start testing again. I think I've got it. Let me know if I'm headed in the right direction:

even though this is not my wax of choice:

    cargill c3

    9 oz balmoral jar

    51-32-18c cotton core wick

    uv inhibitor

    vybar 260

    1 maple color chip

millcreeks white tea & ginger fo

I already know that it takes almost 1 pound of wax to make a 9oz jar so i'm going to use the left over for tarts for my personal use. I also have

60-44-18c cotton core wicks would these work for a 16oz of the same jar?

  4. How do you determine how much lye to use when making gm soap? I have read different post and I did not see anything saying how much lye to use. Maybe I overlooked it while reading. Could someone point me in the right direction.

  5. what is your personal opinions for those of you who work with gb 444 or millenium veg/soy wax. I have narrowed these down to the 2 waxes of choice for me to work with. I just ordered them today and should receive them and start testing next week. I choose the gb 444 because I have seen good reviews on this forum about it. I choose the soy/veg because I used to sell for a company who sold this mix and I thought the candles were terrific. I no longer sell for this company and came across a half dozen in white tea and ginger in this mix (that I bought for personal use) while cleaning out a closet.

  6. I sell air freshener that I get from this guy who makes it in Atlanta. Until he was confident that I was a returning paying customer I had to pay C.O.D. I know that fedex, ups and dhl offer this service not so sure about usps. It's something to look into for the future with other customers and you are gauranteed your money. The driver takes the money order or cashiers check and the customer gets a receipt and then the delivery co sends you your money.

  7. When filling clamshells: do you fill all the way to the top so that there is a full solid covering? or do you fill each spot of the mold individually? I purchased clamshell melts before and had a hard time getting them out because i felt they were over poured. I had to cut them out with a knife. Is there a mold release that can be sprayed to the empty shell so that the release of the melt is easier?

  8. I just looked over the link you referred me to. Gosh It seems to be a very time consuming and complicated process. I was just looking at another site and will do more research on the melt and pour soaps. I have a 4 and 6 year old who's always interested in what I'm doing and using lye would be a bit much for me right now.

  9. am thinking about making the goats milk soap. I have seen recipes for hot or cold press. Which is the best? What is the difference? and What is the degree of difficulty in making them? Is there an on-line video showing how to make them?
