I need some advice. I pored some candles using ecosoya cb advance. I used a 4oz tin, 1 1/2 oz japanese cherry blossom fragrance oil and LX-16 wick Added f/o at 185 F and poured at between 130 and 135 degrees. Let it sit 24 hrs before burning. It burned with a steady flame and even burn pool after about 2 hrs. But it has no scent throw. if someone could please tell me where I went wrong I would greatly appreciate it. Tasha

Has anyone who's made this recipe had the problem with oil seperation? I have a clear oil that has seperated at the bottom of the jars that have been sitting in closet. I read through the post and no one has mentioned this. Tasha

Hey ladies, I need some help. I purchased soy butter to make the whipped soy ans shea recipe that I found here. I have about two bounds left and want to make a butter that doesn't changed the consistency of the butter. Could someone recommend a recipe that I can start with. Hi everyone, I haven't been anywhere on the board since Nov. In the middle of me making and packaging christmas orders my step dad took sick on 12/11 and he passed on 1/4/08. So the holidays was very hard on my family with him being in the hospital and passing. I did manage to fill my orders, but after that I didn't do much of anything. So now with the intentions of helping my mom keep busy I thought I would go ahead and make soap from scratch. This is something that we can do together. I found some really good recipes on here yesterday and now I would like some suggestions on where I can get some good molds from. I checked out Paul's but right now those are out of my budget, but definitely in the future. Also can someone direct me to the thread that showed a step by step on the full process. I saw it back in Nov. but I can't find it now. Thanks in advance, Tasha

Does anyone know where I can find out how to make lotions from scratch starting with the raw ingrediants and not bases. I want to try it on my own. Right now I am using pre-made bases and adding things like vitamin E and f/o to enhance it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tasha

I use it on my son (he has eczema) so I take right from the container it came in. But I tried putting some in a jar. I melted it in the microwave the first time. I did some further research after posting and found that you melt it in 30 second increments and then package. I got 50 pounds because the shelf life is good and it wasn't that expensive. Tasha

I purchased 50 lbs of unrefined shea butter. Can someone tell me how to process it to put in jars and still keep the same consistency. I melted a small amount and put it in a jar, when it re-solidified it was very hard and I had to dig into it to get it out of the jar. Thanks, Tasha

I have been making body lotions. I have a customer who wants one for her daughter. The problem is she wants glitter in it. I don't want to use the actual glitter in it. Can someone tell me where to buy shimmer. It is not actually glitter but it gives the same affect. it's smaller than glitter and I personally think it looks better on the skin. It is also musch safer for kids than glitter. Thanks Tasha

Hey Ladies, hows it going? It's not that I misunderstood what Carebear was saying it's just that the tunneling issue was giving me such a headache I wasn't paying attention to the scent throw. Now that I've got that straight I can focus my attention on that. I have noticed that the cold throw is very light and the hot throw is not much stronger. I am going to try another scent and order some of the same scents I have been testing with from a different supplier. Have a great day, Tasha

yes. But I was only adding the recommended amount. I'm going to take this one step at a time. Learned the hard way to take my time get one part right and then move on to the next step.

Candlegrl408, I got the right size wick for the 9oz balmoral. If you are using an HTP wick it is 126. HTH Tasha

****UPDATE**** I ended up using a HTP-126 and got a perfect full burn pool. Thank you everyone for your advice. Now I will start working on the scent throw. Tasha

That's the part I have not figured out yet, because the jar is shaped funny. It is 2.5 across the top. I got the jar size for the wicks from Peaks also and that is how I am choosing which wick to use. That's how I ended up wicking down instead of up. They list 2 different sizes (52&72) for a jar like the one I am using Tasha

I just checked HTP's are recommended for soy and soy/paraffin blend waxes.

Ok, that would make since Roxanne and that was my next step. I was looking at the suggested diameter of the jar for the wick on Peak's web site when i was coosing the wicks. Tasha

I used 1/2 tsp. It was suggested for 1/2tsp to 1 tbsp., for this batch I used 1/2 and the top came out fine. Tasha

Hi all, I am really having problems with tunneling. I am cureently testing with GW444 wax and HTP wicks. I am using a 9oz balmoral jar. The first wick I used was 41 and was told the wick was to small and to go up to 83. I got the same result. I have since tried 73 and yesterday 62. The result is the same. I only have one more size to go down before I am back at 41. Should I go with a different brand of wick? Should I wick up again? I have a sample pack of ECO that I haven't tried yet so that's what I will probably be doing this weekend. But I like the HTP's because they don't mushroom. Since I started using the coconut oil they are setting perfectly. No bubbles, no holes =ing no repores or topping off. The scent throw is not to good (very light), but I am more concerned about this major tunneling issue right now. Once I get the wicks straight I turn the scent throw. Could someone please help me by answering the questions above or let me know what has worked for you. Hugs and kisses Tasha
