  1. I've been thinking of trying the vybar 343 in my palm wax. I understand that it could increase the amount of FO you can add. According to the supplier, he said it will not increase hot throw. What would be the purpose of using it if it doesn't increase cold or hot throw? I get great throw now, just am always looking for ways to increase it without overloading the wax. Has anyone used this, and what is your opinion?

  2. Becky,

I've only used palm wax, so don't know if it's harder to clean up than with soy. I think they are all a pain to clean up! I don't ever have to repour, and I don't poke relief holes. I add a small amt of soy to the batch, which pretty much eliminates the need to repour, poke, etc. With palm you need to pour at a much higher temp, and your container, mold, whatever...need to be zapped with a heat gun 1st to make it hot, then after pouring, I just cool at room temperature. It turns out so beautiful. With palm, it's harder to smooth out the tops with the heat gun. It just messes up the beautiful pattern. Don't know if that helps or not (and I'm certainly not an expert by any means)! Keep playing with it, and you will find what works for you, and you will not be disappointed!

  3. I have a funny story regarding moving from the kitchen to a spare bedroom. The kitchen was totally converted to our candle shop, so decided to move into the spare bedroom. The first day, had everything laid out so nicely, turned the turkey fryer on to start a batch of candles, then turned the heat gun on to heat up a mold, and tripped the breaker. What a pain. Now have to plug the heat gun into the socket in the hallway with an extension cord. Next, I needed to melt down a test candle to repour...the smoke detector went off. If I try to melt anything down, and it smokes just a tiny bit, the detector goes off! I guess I'll just have to live with it, but sure did like doing the candles in the kitchen!:cry2:

  4. lol...love the panty line remark! I tried messing with the another ball candle while it was still warm, put my finger thru it and made a huge mess! I emailed the danish people yesterday, I may try their molds. they claim they leave less of a seam. Thanks for you comment Sharyl. I just love this wax. It's so beautiful. I'm amazed every time I pour a candle that I could make something that looks so pretty. Wish I could take some of the credit, but it's all the wax.

  5. I don't know the answer to that. I use soy in my palms, but a very small amount. I know that the temps you heat to, add FO at, and pour at make a difference with soy. They also need to cure longer. There are also things like vybar that can enhance hot throw. You just have to try different variations to see what you like. What irritates me about this board, is that some people can post anything, and get 50 responses that say absolutely nothing, but others who really need help don't get hardly any responses at all! I have learned so very much by just reading, reading, and reading. I've been making candles for a long time, but have learned much more by just reading here. The information learned is priceless! Good luck, hope someone who knows more than I do responds.
