  1. I haven't made candles in several months, but I am thinking of whipping up a batch of Pink Sugar soon since I have lots of customers requesting that I do so. My question is this: I made a pink sugar sachet about a month ago, and it didn't hold scent long at all. The beads turned a brownish/pinkish color. Could this be from the fragrance being to old? The oil is from Peaks and I normally have wonderful results. I believe the oil is probably about 9 months old. Do you think I need new oil before I attempt the candles? Thanks in advance

  2. I totally understand what you are going through. I struggled with this myself a few months ago. Do I quit, do I keep plugging away? My problem was also time. Candle making is NOT my full time job, just something I do on the side. I did make a TINY profit last year, but nothing to write home about. When I started talking about quitting, all of my customers freaked. I felt obligated to them and felt that I would be soo letting them down. So, I too prayed about it, and came up with a compromise. I decided to downsize greatly (going from offering 5 different candle sizes to just one). So, currently I am clearancing all of my current stock, and once all of my tins and jars are gone, they are gone for good. Only going to offer one size after that. This will so help me have more time with my daughter, and household duties. It will be so much easier to keep up with just one size. So, thats my two cents. Try compromising first, then if that doesn't work and you still aren't happy, then sell. Best of Luck to you!!

  3. It's funny you bring this up because I was going to order from them this morning as well, then saw the freaking price! I ended up getting it from WSP because even with shipping, it's cheaper. I checked other sites as well thinking I would find cheaper shipping, but the cheapest I found was only $2 cheaper than WSP, so I just ordered from them. Man I hope they all don't go up that high or I'm screwed. :(

  4. I just put the tarts in there unwrapped, then bagged them as they were purchased. It did take some time, but it wasn't too bad I didn't think. The jars didn't get too messed up either. I like them because I store them in the jars at home as well.

  5. I just tested this one at 1oz per lb of J223. 8oz jj/44-24-18z wick. The melt pool was acceptable, no sooting and such. Wonderful cold throw, non existent hot throw. Any ideas? I have read alot of good review about this fo, and I was so hoping it would work.

  6. I explained to her how much money and time goes into testing, but she didn't seem to understand. I have run across SOOOO many people over the 2 years that I have been doing this that look at me crosseyed when I talk about testing, wick size, etc... I can't remember what I thought before I made candles myself, but I can be pretty certain I had a little bit of a clue (at least I would like to think so!).

  7. UPDATE to all who PM'd about this: Angie contacted me yesterday and stated that she has decided to go with the .33 Walmart votives. I advised her against this and explained to her how much a handmade votive would increase the value of her business (evidently she is going to sell baby shower gifts, and include pink or blue votives). She said she didn't think it would matter all that much, and she thought it would be CHEAPER to purchase a handmade one:shocked2:.

This whole ordeal has made me realize that people in general don't really care all that much about quality. They just look at how cheap something is, regardless if it is actually a good item or not. Oh well. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

  8. Hi guys, been off the board for a little while, but trying to catch up. Anyhow, I have an old friend from high school who contacted me about purchasing votives from me. Problem is, I don't make votives and don't plan to (only containers). So, I promised her I would check with this board to see who all does wholesale on votives. So, if anyone is interested she is starting a business involving childrens items (not sure exactly what), and said she needs pink and blue votives. If your interested, please PM me or respond to this message. Thanks in advance!

  9. Thanks for the replies...the customer said that her mother had a musk candle that she really likes, but didn't go into any further detail than that. She said she is going to try and get it this week and drop it off for me to figure out. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I finally order. I will update you all when I figure out exactly which musk I am looking for!

  10. I agree with Angela...the small storage bins are great for tarts. I started out with the ziploc bags and soon found out that wasn't a good idea. All the scents were mixing together, so I bought some of the storage containers and they are wonderful (just make sure they have a #5 on the bottom). :)
