  1. I am having the same problem. I got nothing at 1 oz per lb with Ezsoy. Last ones I tried 1.25 oz. I know the max is 1.5 oz with Ezsoy. Let me know if you get a really great throw. I'm getting a throw with 1.25, but not as much as I would like. Candles have cured almost 2 weeks. What FO's are you using and jars and wicks?
  2. I'm willing to pay more for FOs if I get a GREAT throw. I just started candles(just a hobby). Tried Candlewic, wasn't impressed with their FOs. Bittercreek had good prices, low shipping for me and an extensive selection of FOs. I think I'll try going up to 1.5 before I give up on them. Its just that so many on their board claim they get a better scent throw with 1 oz than 1.5. I could try different wicks. But if I don't have a good cold throw, I don't think the wick is the problem.
  3. My tarts do have a slight dip also. The last ones I made, I let cool on top of stove that was still warm, no dips. I think it has to do with how fast they cool. I may try turning my oven on warm just for a few minutes, then turn it off about an hour before I pour. I use Ezsoy and a little beeswax. I hate those dips! I get them mostly in the ones I make in the mini muffin pans.
  4. Does anyone else add FO at low temps? Maybe I should try this. I have tried everything else but. Slushy would be at 100 to 115F. My only concern would be that the wax and FO would not blend well. I guess I don't understand how this would help, since they say FO isn't burned off at 180 in such a short period. You would have to keep at the temp for a long time. I have candles that are 3 weeks cured and don't even have much of a cold throw and zero hot throw. It is a strong FO and I used 1 oz. I know its not my wicks. And to not even have a cold throw after 3 weeks?
  5. Get my Ezsoy and FOs from BCN. I could not get a good hot and cold throw with 1 oz per lb. Had to go up to 1.25 oz per lb. I know a lot depends on the quality of the FO. Does anyone who uses their scents use 1 oz and get a really strong throw? I read on their board that most use 1 oz per lb and get great throws. I only use their tried and true strongest scents and still don't get anything from 1 oz.
  6. What molds do you use. I would like to make smaller tarts than mini muffin. More like chips. Was thinking about the clamshell molds.
  7. I added 1/2 oz beeswax per lb. I used 1.5 FO per lb. I add at 180 also. I haven't tried my tarts yet. I thought I would let them cure. Do you have a good hot throw the same day? How much beeswax do you use? I also used it for candles same amount. Maybe my tarts will throw. The only problem I had in mini muffin pans were very shallow sink holes. The second batch I let cool on top of stove and didn't get sink holes. At what stage do you pour? I have found if I wait until 100 it is too thick by the time I am half through pouring. I have been pouring more of a thick cake batter than slushy.
  8. Just started burning the Autumn Spice, getting some hot throw, weak, but there. Its a week cured. I do have a hard time smelling cinnamon scents. Spiced Cranberry has a lot of cinnamon. I'm getting encouraged! Hope another week will make the difference. I guess the extra .25 of FO helped.
  9. I think I'll buy an electric tart warmer.
  10. So am I safe to assume an unscented t-lite should not produce soot?
  11. I have used Candlewic CB-129 or CB-125, can't remember which one, a few years ago. I just remembered I did do some tarts and they turned out great. I stopped making candles and wanted to try soy. I liked the CB, but of course I had to do repours, which I hate. No repours with Ezsoy, but not getting good scent throw.
  12. I have ghost marks on my ceilings where I have burned fragranced candles. Have to prime and paint. I know soy can still soot if not wicked and burned properly. Is it only fragranced candles that create soot? I would like to stick with wickless and tarts. Would the t-lites with tart burners create soot? Or should I just get an electric tart burner? I guess my question is, is it the flame that creates soot, or the fragrance and flame together? I guess I must have burned some poor quality candles in the last few years to get this soot.
  13. I am burning SC in 5 x8 bathroom. There is a scent throw, but light. I hear of so many people burning a votive and say it scents their entire house? You would think an 8 oz jj would scent more than a small bathroom. For those of you who use 1.5 oz per lb FO in Ezsoy, do you any problems with wicking? I'm not making candles to sell, just for me and gifts.
  14. Is there such a thing? May be giving up on soy. I did use Ezsoy for tarts with some beeswax.
  15. My daughter got permanent laundry marker on a white shirt. Straight bleach would not touch it. I used Simple Green concentrate, not diluted, and it came out.
  16. I know its not the FO. I made wickless parrafin and they are so strong on candle warmer. Tech support did say it could have to do with air flow in my house. I don't have any air exchangers or high ceilings. I guess it could be the wicks. The reason I chose the CD is a lot of people used them with great results in 8 oz jj with these particular scents(on BCN message board). So many people seem to love Ezsoy for the throw. The candles burn great, look great, just don't have a scent. The last candles have cured a week, no hot throw yet. I'll just wait at least another week and try again. Although BCN said this is a scent that you should smell in a few days when you test burn. The second batch does have a better cold throw. We'll see. Thanks everyone.
  17. How long do you cure and what size wicks, also what jars do you use? I called Tech Support at BCN. She could not figure out what problem was. I also tried BCN Autumn Spice and no throw either. I know its not candle nose. Other people can't smell it either. Tech support suggested a larger jar then 8 oz. to get a wider melt pool. I only want to make 8 oz and only have wicks for that. The only thing I might do differently is that I cap my candles within an hour or so after making them. Tech support said that wouldn't matter. I am stumped. Could it be bad wax? It looked fine.
  18. Using a tried and true strong FO for soy, BCN, Spiced Cranberry. Tried 1 oz per lb, 1.25 oz per lb, plan to try 1.5 next. I am not having any problems with wicking or melt pool. Just no hot throw even after 3 weeks of curing. Using CD 12 or 14 in 8 oz jjs. Cold throw on 1 oz very weak, cold throw on 1.25 good. How do people only use 1 oz per lb FO with Ezsoy and get strong scent? I am adding FO at 170 to 180. Also use just under 1/2 oz beeswax pellets per lb of Ezsoy. What can be the problem here? I know its not the FO, great throw in paraffin.
