  1. Just got my shipping notice from Bittercreek so looks like my mold will get here in time for order delivery before xmas eve. I know a welder but by the time I can get the mold to him and by the time I pay...I might as well ordered a new one. Now if I get the old fixed I'll have the extra I've been wanting to order..just incase one of these days I have more than 1 hurricane to do at a time! Thanks everyone for the input. I'll be sure to post if I get the mold fixed and how.

  2. Oh No....I poured a picture hurricane the other day for a xmas order and I didn't like how it came out, so cut the picture out and proceeded to remelt, in the meantime..stuck the mold in the oven to melt the little bit of remaining wax off the mold...forgetting that I had the oven turned on to bake cookies, left mold in a bit too long...it came right off the base. I ordered a new one from Bittercreek today with fingers very crossed and many prayers hoping it gets here in time for me to redo the candle before xmas eve! My dad is trying to solder the other one back together. I even used the silicone glue but that didn't hold the base and the mold together. Any ideas, anyone?

  3. I use a blunt end tapestry needle. You may have to twist it back and forth a couple of times before it goes through the cardboard, but it will. I use thin satin ribbon to hang mine and thread the needle with it when I'm making the hole and pull the ribbon right through the whole, the ribbon makes it just wide enough and doesn't look sloppy 'cause its the exact size you need.

  4. Wanted to try the photo hurricanes so thought I'd adveritise with my new logo. The 2nd hurricane is not this fuzzy in person. I think my camera has about had it...got a new one just haven't had time to monkey with it yet. The football player in the picture is also not my son....son of my friend, I borrowd his picture for advertisement purposes.

  5. Pumpkin dip with either Nilla wafers or apple slices. Recipe as follows:

    Pumpkin Dip

3/4 cup (8 oz.) cream cheese (1/3 less fat kind)

    1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)

    2 tsp. maple syrup

    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Place first 3 ingredients in a medium bowl and beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Add syrup and cinnamon and beat until smooth. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.

Easy and really good. I've thought about using this as icing for maybe something like angel food cake.

  6. I just saw they are having $1.00 shipping. I want to get some christmas fragrances ordered and was going to go with peaks (of course) Millcreek and saw few interesting ones at Solas...can someone give me the heads up on some good fragrances for xmas. I was thinking so far:

    Brooklyn Biscotti

    Iced Gingerbread

    Vanilla Plum

By the way, I use Soy wax from bluegrass but am almost out, so am going to go with Millcreek since its a little closer than Kentucky.

  7. Thanks for the compliments. I think the thickness is due to the angle of the picture 'cause now that I'm looking at it, it also looks like the top isn't even the whole way around either. I'm sort of "anal" when it comes to the hurricane, I sort of measure the thickness so they are relatively the same!

  8. Had a 2 day fall festival at my kids Catholic school over the weekend and wasn't as prepared with as much stock as I would've liked, but with a 7 month old..I'm just getting back into the swing of things. I did okay...made my table fee backand enough to order a few fragrances. Not a good turn out people wise. I don't think it was advertised enough and the lady running it changed her mind about who the proceeds were going to (was a book sale too). She changed her mind too about the times. First it was supposed to be Sat. 10-5 and sunday 12-4, but because our town halloween parade was sat at 5 she changed the sign to 4, then she decided she wanted everyone to be at their booth at 9 on Sun. so we'd catch the people coming out of church. Not many people came. After 11:30 it was DEAD...everyone was packed up by 3:30.Then what really yanks my chain is why at a craft show there is allowed to be "Mary Kay Cosmetics, Home Interiors, Watkins, Pampered Chef a lady selling old Time magazines and some ceramic christmas houses she bought and didn't want to use (flea market items) and another guy with a bunch of flea market things. Ugh. The lady didn't have any kind of door prize raffle or a chinese auction. I don't even know how this lady got in charge, but our church/ school hasn't had a fall fest in a long time, so I guess she decided to try. Next year the parent/teacher organization is going to take over, so I've already put in my 2 cents.I think I sold more than most so probably was lucky to do so. A bunch of brochures left the table and had a few inquiries about the pictue hurricanes( which I have yet to take pictures of) so we'll see. Have another one the last Sat. of Nov. so I'll be sort of stocked up. Still gotta get the car unloaded.

  9. Hmmm. I just went through this same scenerio with 2 of my coworkers. I brought some old candles that didn't sell that still had my old business tags on. I told them to take some home and burn them. I proceeded to tell me "you know that little 1.5 oz. candle in the cute little jar vanilla fragrance I took home, it got down to about 1/2" wax left and then the jar cracked." I said how long did you burn it continuously .....pretty much all day, and did you ever trim the wick?....no, are you supposed to. Did you read the instructions on the inside of the lid, no didn't know I was supposed to. Then the other one chimes in and says, I always burn my candles all day long. Yikes! Apparently they don't know how to read and are deaf too! I'm doing a craft show next weekend and I think I will print a LARGE table tag with candle burning instructions with a disclaimer that I am not responsible for cracked jars or wax messes if you can't be a responsible candle owner/burner!

  10. I was having a similar problem with the HTP 104 in a 4 oz. jelly as well as the 8 oz. jelly jars, but found out that due to the slight elevated area in the bottom of the jar, my wick wasn't sticking the whole way down with using high melt glue or a wick stickem so I was getting the hang up due to the wick lifting up and leaning....I now use the GE silicone to glue my tabs down and the HTP seem to be burning fine in the jelly jars with any fragrance I've tried.

  11. I'm using 4 oz. jelly jars and used a htp 104 wick....great fragrance throw cold and hot, but a little bit of hang up on the side. I'd like to try htp 105, but didn't order any yet but I do have these...CD 08, 44-32-18 cotton, CD06, 60-44-18 cotton, CD 12, and 51-32-18 natural...any help as to which one to try next?

    TIA

  12. I use 100% soy flakes and am not impressed with their fragrances in the soy. I do however appreciate their customer service and have had good results with their fragrances in the aroma ornaments and in bath and body things. It's been a long time since I've used them for fragrances so can't tell you about their new fragrances.
