  1. Thanks everyone. Have a blessed holiday season.
  2. Looking for the saying about a bayberry candle that was posted several weeks ago. Did a search but to no avail. If anyone knows it could you please post. TIA.
  3. There was a member on the board who had the drill bit for sale. I think it was Garf. Don't know if he is still around or not. Maybe someone can tell you how to get in touch with him.
  4. I use J223/soy blend. Have tried other container wax but go back to this. I buy most of my Fos from Alabaster since I can pick them up. So far I have been very pleased with all the Fos I have purchased. Kuduz, pumpkin spice, caramel apple pecan, blueberry pie, magnolia, mulberry, pomergranate are some of my best sellers for this time of year. When you visit they have the Fos so you can smell them. Their customer service is excellent.
  5. I use soy and J223 blend. I also have the double wick setter but am confused at how is works. I have the rods in the line that comes down, the second one and the fourth one (counting from the top). The magnets do seem close. Thanks for any advice.
  6. Does anyone double wick the 16 oz. apothercary jar with LX wicks. How do you decide how to space the wicks. TIA
  7. I have the Morroccan orange clove and it is great. It has become on my best seller. I have ordered it the last two scent events. I also have the cinnamon spice, It is wonderful also. I haven't been disappointed with any FO I have ordered. I missed them having the spiced apple this year. Did order the spice and apple but haven't poured it yet. Hope it will smell as good as apple spice. I really like the Bavarian Thin Mint but it didn't go over well with my customers. Think I need to rename it. Any ideas? Linda
  8. I bought a sunbeam digtal thermometer at Wal Mart. Does anyone have one of these and is it fairly accurate? TIA
  9. I use the LX wicks with J223. Get a great hot throw and they burn clean.
  10. What would be the ratio for cinnaberry using bayberry and cinnamon. TIA for any help.
  11. Does anyone use the paypal shopping cart? TIA for any opinions.
  12. Second the turkey roaster. I have two roasters which I use to melt wax in and to heat my jars. Just be sure you have the roaster set at a low temp for the jars. It only takes a short time to heat them. Have a great day!
  13. I love my E-z Wick Setter. I don't know how I ever centered my wick without it. It has been one of the best investment I have made. I am going to order the double wick soon. When I first started pouring candles, I used the ball point pen tube method but always seem to get the wick a little off center. Guess part of that was due to age.
  14. Thanks for all the info. I am going to pour more layers today. Now I know I wasn't to far off base. Happy candlemaking!!!
  15. I weighed out the amount of wax for the container, heated, then put my fragrance in. At this point I weigh out the amount of wax for the layer. Added color and poured in container. When it had cooled, I added color to remaining wax for next layer and poured. Hope this makes sense.
  16. I poured my first layer candle this morning. I looked like the mad scientist doing this. Does someone have easy directions for melting the wax and adding fos for the different layers. I know there must be a simpler way than I was doing. The layers did turn great.
  17. Hi, noticed you are in Waterford, CT. We have a son in the Navy at Groton. They live in Plainfield, CT. We visited them in July. He will be retiring in Jun, 2007 and surprised us with the news that they planned to move back to Alabama. We did a lot of shopping in Waterford. Beautiful country.
  18. This will probably sound like a totally dumb question -- when using your heat gun do you go around the outside of the jar or hold it straight down on opening of jar. After all this time of pouring candles, I have begun to doubt what I am doing. This must definitely be a sign of old age.
  19. I am in Alabama and buy most of my supplies from Alabaster. Excellent customer service. Good luck on your move.
  20. I use J223 and soy for my candles and usually use the heat gun to fix the dip around the wick. Is it easier to repour after the candle has cooled to level the top. Would I still heat the wax to 10 degrees hotter. I don't like the way the candle looks using the heat gun. TIA for any help.
