  1. SS & SS abbreviations? How do most of you differentiate between Southern Soapers and Southern Scentsations in FO discussions, classies etc....with both having the same SS abbreviation? This drives me mad not being able to tell which is which and ppl very rarely make it clear on the boards. Do you old pros know of a better way for all of us to abbrev the two? Is there an already established standard that most of you use? Thanks a bunch. Mt Annie
  2. Hi all, Is Peak's Cranberry Apple Marmalade the same as the CS Cranberry Marmalade? They smell identical to my nose today. It may just be me...but if any of you have both...could you check and LMK what you think? Thanks a bunch. Mt Annie
  3. Thank you Camay. Your answer was very helpful. My best!
  4. Thanks hon. I've received tons of the plastic bottles as well...but I was just never sure what type of bottle I was receiving. I guess I should just ask the supplier. I'll pick a few of the better, stronger plastics that I have on hand and contact those companies for more info on what they use. That's probably my best bet. I just thought some of you on the board might know more about those bottle types than I do.
  5. Thank you for your answers ...but not sure if my question was fully understood. Yes, I know that dark glass bottles are best for "storage" and that's also what I sell my FOS in, but I was asking about the plastic bottles. Which type is most commonly used to ship by the suppliers? The HDPE or the PETs and which of those 2 plastic types are the best? (as in stronger plastic, good seal / less leaks etc) I only mentioned the glass ones in my post because I'll be looking for a good supplier in the near future. I'm well stocked with glass bottles for now (bought here on the classies and on ebay) but I will need to purchase more later from a good supplier.
  6. Hi ladies (& gents) I'm pretty familiar with FOs but NOT very familiar with the bottles that they come in so I have a few questions that I was hoping someone here could answer. 1. Are the usual FOs (from most major suppliers) bottled in HDPE or PET plastic bottles? 2. Which type is best? and 3. Where is the best place to buy them? I'm in need of 2, 4 and possibly some 8 oz plastics, WITH caps, and I'll eventually need some glass bottles, in various sizes, also with caps. Thanks much!
  7. (LOL) Thanks Ladies. Just wanted to be sure. Ok..I'm off to learn more on melt & pour. (Like what more would I possibly need to know? It's M E L T & P O U R right?) -grin- I would like to learn more about all those additives I keep hearing about. Ok...off to investigate further. BTW, who has the best M&P? Are there different kinds or are they all basically the same?
  8. A question from a complete newbie interested in soapmaking : Ok, I'm a newborn babe in the soap making category. I haven't even googled it that much yet! (LOL) Someone said that you HAD to add lye when making soap. So, my question is, do you have to add lye to M&P or is it already added to the base? I'm assuming that it's already added in if needed. Don't laugh! I TOLD you I was a newborn...or perhaps a NOT-yet-born! ?
  9. Comparing ICS "Spiced Cranberry" to CS "Cranberry Marmalade" Is it just me or are these 2 VERY similar? I may just have noseburn. Does anyone else smell such a close resemblance?
  10. That *is confusing so I wrote NG to ask about the photos/marketing issue mentioned in their newsletter. Hopefully we'll know more soon. :smiley2: Mt Annie
  11. How many of you have tried NG's latest/newest FOs? Site states over 100 new fragrances so I'm eager to learn more about some of them from those of you who've actually tried them. Are there any kick-butt must-haves on the new list? :smiley2:
  12. Great idea Susan...and something that I try often....but HOW do you keep the sticker on a slick, oily bottle??? (LOL) Mine always seem to smear if the least bit of FO dribbles down the bottle. I've even tried the 'tape-over' , with permanent markers...but it didn't help that much. They eventually smear anyway. I use a *ton of FOs and about 1/4 (or more) of my bottle labels are smeared...whether they're my own labels or the supplier's labels. Any good tricks/tips for keeping those labels clean and read-able? TIA! Mt Annie
  13. >> Try a guys cologne with it! Thanks Leeann. That's exactly what I was asking for in my original post. A masculine leather. :smiley2: I already have a feminine leather and it's well loved by the leather crowd here. But straight leather? Maybe for a vet...or a rodeo show...or maybe even a western wear store..but I can't think of much else it's good for. (LOL) Mt Annie
  14. It sounds like you ladies have some great recommendations. I appreciate your replies. I'll go check out (and purchase) some of those mentioned....if not all of them. :smiley2: Blessings... Mt Annie
  15. Thanks glowworm. :smiley2: I'm looking for some without the markings. Would you happen to know who carries those? I know I've saw them from several suppliers but I've just bought a new computer and don't have all my files transferred yet.
  16. Yes hon, you're right! I *was looking for leather based / masculine scents...or some mixer ideas to try my own. However, since I have no straight leather at the moment, the leather based ones would keep me from having to buy several different FOs to mix and sample. :smiley2:
  17. Hi ladies, Does anyone know if the Backwoods 8 oz Mason Jars are flat-sided or do they have the ridges and/or lettering as many masons do on almost every side? TIA! :smiley2:
  18. Thanks Candy! If you've tried them...could you recommend the best supplier(s) for the fOs mentioned? :smiley2:
  19. Quote: >> Nothing is sexy about leather anything lol ... I completely agree! LOL That's why I was looking for something with a nice manly scent to counter-act the leather. Thanks for the recommends hon! Mt Annie
  20. ISO a masculine Leather type scent. Any ideas? I'm looking for something other than straight leather...like leather mixed w/ a sexy, masculine cologne. Is there one out there already or do some of you mix your own? If so, would you mind sharing some of your mixers? Thanks a bunch! Mt Annie
  21. Great comments and descriptions! I'll have to try them both. Thanks so much. Mt Annie
  22. Thanks a bunch Pixi. Hopefully others will comment as well.
  23. Hi ladies, Which is better the CS Lime cooler or Voilet lime? Are they at all similar? I know that lots of folks like them both but just wondering if there's a big difference in the 2 or are they quite similar? TIA! Mt Annie
  24. Would any of you happen to have any samplers of these awesome sounding Christmas Tree FOs? Maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 oz or so? Also, on the one from Peaks that many seemed to agree on...which scent WAS that exactly? There were several mentioned. Was it Peak's Christmas Tree Christmas spruce Cinnamon balsam or a pine? Thanks a bunch! Mt Annie
