  1. When I got my first chunk of beeswax, I thought..."Melt, pour, stick some string in it and sell it...anyone can do it!"

    I really thought that.

Seven months later, I am almost happy enough to sell my candles. I am SO GLAD I found this forum. I would have had NO CLUE about testing. I use only beeswax, I add no scents or dyes, and I still have painstakingly tested every container, every wick...every shape and size.

This type of thing makes my stomach do flops. Wait till they are sued because someone's crappy candle burned thier house down.

I want to make candles people want, not candles people want ONCE.

  2. OK...I have been having the damnedest time finding reasonably priced shrink wrap. I got so tired of looking, then seeing shipping charges

Living in Canada sure blows sometimes!!!:P

    Anyway, my solution was this:

I was shopping in good ol Wallyworld, and saw one of those "Window Insulation kits"

    It was $12.97.

Came with about 40 feet of shrink wrap, some tape, and some outlet insulators.

I used the shrink wrap and my handy dandy heat gun, and wrapped everything....I didn't even have to buy tape, since it came with an enormous roll of 2 sided tape.

I did have to cut the sheets by hand, so, it did take longer. what I did was made a "template" of the size I need for each product, then folded the shrink wrap, and cut about 40 out at a time. Worked fine. In all, I think i saved at least $50. Once I got my rhythm down, it only took about 1 minute per item to tape and shrink.

I have wrapped 40 soaps, 30 lip balms (tubes and tubs), and about 20 votives. I have over half the roll left, and that includes all my...flub ups when I was "learning"!

I used the outlet insulators on my outlets.:cheesy2:

  3. I think you guys are lost, LOL. This is Candletech. The programmer forums are down the hall, turn left. I'd help you but I don't speak your language, LOL.

    YUP!

Wow, I just came to peak at this thread....I had a programmer integrate my shipping module into my shopping cart (Canada Post...I was lost!)

It is nice that your boyfriend is helping you, OP.

  4. I have a site where the webhosting costs me .99 month.

IMO, and this is JUST MY OPINION, a free site for a business does not look professional. sometimes the ads that come up are for competition!!

As for the PP thing, since you have a business account, you could call PP and talk to a rep. I know alot of people have bad experiences with them, but 99% of the time I get a helpful rep who can answer my questions! :grin2: I am not sure why adjusting the shipping would affect one site, tho?
