  1. OK so i have been really busy and also sick for three weeks and i am burning the candle as we speak. I realize i didn't use enough FO i can barely smell it. but its burning really well.

I am not sure if i really understand the actual steps to test a candle, if someone could quickly explain that to me i would appreciate it. :D

  2. If that had been me, I'd have pulled that little lady aside, and asked her if she knew the meaning of slander, and then told her to look it up. That is uncalled for. She must have felt threatened. Anyway..sorry your show was bad, here's hoping your next one is much better.

    i agree wholeheartedly.

  3. Took a gift basket class today at my local suppliers and one of the products was a Soy Votive Candle using a Soy Pillar Blend Wax. The wick we used was a LX10x2.5" prepared wick, and used a plastic votive mold.

when we got to class the wax was already melted and at the proper temperature of 175 F, so we poured the wax into the molds and after a minute inserted the wicks. Did the Vent Hole after it started to harden, and when it was hard to the touch did a second pour filling the cavity and filling the wax to the top of the mold. After the votive set, we did a cold water bath to release the candle from the mold.

    NOw my question is...

I really liked the candle i made in class, so could i continue making these same candles with the same type of wicks, and get my family to test them, or what is my next step.

I guess the reason i am asking is because y'all talk so much about testing, testing, and more testing, but the wicks had already been tested because they can't teach a class without the proper wicks. So i don't need to do any testing myself do I?

Does any of this make sense?

  4. I am up in Canada and I called all the Home Hardwares and found 3 kilograms of lye for $15.00. I think that was an ok price. I have lots of it now though lol :shocked2:

It wasn't Red Devil lye though, just the Home Hardware brand

voyageur soap and candle company sells it at their location, check their website i am not sure if they can mail it to you or not.

  5. Ok, I'm making it my mission to find these things, It's just driving me nuts, so along my search, I find this site http://www.soapandthings.com/c-42-embedds.aspx She doesn't have the snowglobe embeds, but she does have a lot of other cute ones. :D

What cracked me up, is I found that icecube mold that I have for making the soap crayons, and she's selling it for OVER $6!!! I bought mine for like $1.50 at Walmart!! :rolleyes2 LOL

Anyway, she's got some cute embeds for good prices, like the goldfish, she has for $1.45 for a dozen, which is pretty good.

    JFYI

    did you see this one?1137.jpg

  8. I use the foil seal packets. I cut mine in half and get twice as many for my money, and it's still big enough for a good sample. The place I always got them no longer is in business, but here are a few links where you can find them.

I use my sealer to seal the ends, but they say you can use an iron too. HTH

I used my iron cause i don't have a sealer. They work fabulous. I ordered the one's that are too big though so i have to make another order.
