  1. Okay, so I normally don't struggle with renames, but for some reason, I've drawn a blank with DS Vanilla Delicious. Here's the description:

Delectable French Vanilla with hints of warm sugary syrup, freshly baked batter dough with hints of powdered sugar.

Any thoughts? Vanilla Delicious just doesn't seem to fit, I'd like to go for something a little more "bakery-ish", LOL.

    Thanks!

  2. I'm having the exact same problems. BUT...I'm wondering if maybe it's the FO formulation changes that might be causing the problem?? I know so many suppliers have changed to phalates free (and no, I have no idea what a phalate is, LOL). I'm wondering if that is affecting the wick performance? That being said, I have zincs from BCS also...ordered probably 8 months ago...and am having the same drowning/ashy top problem. It's so frustrating. I too use parasoy. I've tried every wick in the book, and have found zincs (up until now) to be the best. Not very helpful, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Please keep us posted if you find any solutions.

  3. I'm so mad. I sent out my monthly newsletter this afternoon...only to get customers complaining that my shipping calculator isn't working. I checked out a few other DIY estore customers and their shipping isn't working either. I'm pretty sure it has to do with USPS being down, but darn this is a bad time of year! I'm losing orders here. Just thought I'd give other DIY E-store users the heads up.

    Very frustrating.

  4. I don't know why I can't come up with something! I don't like to do duplications, so I want to rename Downey Rose and Violet. It's got a small floral kick to it, but it definitely has a clean kick too. I don't sell alot of florals, so I want my customers to know this is not overly floral. It's a great fragrance. Any suggestions for a rename? I'd really appreciate it!

  5. Duh! Thanks so much, Carebear!! I don't know why I didn't think of the obvious (I figured it must be something I'd changed). I really appreciate your suggestions :) I'm making a batch in the morning and will definitely give both suggestions a whirl! :yay:

  6. I've been making these for quite awhile and have had no problems. However, the last 4 or 5 batches I've made, there is moisture sitting on top of the melts. There's like little drops of liquid on top of each melt. They aren't in the freezer more than 20 minutes, I've tried cutting back on the FO, I've used tried and true FOs that have always resulted in beautiful results, tried different brands of cornstarch....nothing works, they all have the moisture on top. It's so frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd greatly appreciate it, I'm pulling my hair out here. Thanks!

  7. Thank you for the suggestion of Candle Science. I did place an order with them for a slab, so we'll see how it does. The BCS and Peaks 4794 was the same....awful...but they both purchase from the same manufacturer and it is possible it's from the same lot (the BCS wax didn't have a lot number on it). I'm so unbelievably frustrated right now. Thanks for the help.

  8. I called Peaks. They say it hasn't changed and it's possible it was mislabeled. I sent them a sample of the wax to have analyzed. I KNOW this isn't the same wax. Very, very frustrating. I had to order new 4794 from BCS just to tide me over until we get this figured out. Peaks has always been excellent with their customer service, so I hope they can fix this.

  9. LOL! Heavens knows I don't need any more grey hair! I'm calling them this morning. I just wanted to pour a few more scents to make sure it's not just certain scents (although I'm pretty much convinced it's not.) I poured Pumpkin Souffle the day before yesterday...with rippled tops. I poured the EXACT same fragrance last night with the new batch of wax...smooth tops, dip in the center, no ripples in site. Poured some florals this morning...same. So weird. Ironically, I've tried for years to get rid of the rippled tops. If the throw was good, I'd just let it be...but it's not as strong as it should be.

  10. Thank you guys. I'm so frustrated. I've had wonderful luck with this wax up until now. There is a small sunken spot in the tops of the tarts, but usually this wax ripples across the top...it always has. The tops are smooth. I'm going to pour some of my tried and true guaranteed house filling scents and see how they do. Of course this happens during my busy season. Ugh.

  11. I'm so stressed. I just poured tarts and votives from a new batch of 4794. They ALWAYS require a repour. ALWAYS! I've used this wax for 3 years. Today...flat tops. The throw on the tarts is awful. I've got orders up the yin yang and I think the wax is either the wrong wax, or something's changed. Argh!! Does anyone know if the wax has changed at all?? I think they mislabeled the dang wax.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

  12. Just a thought, you CAN file for an EIN even if you're a sole proprietor. Wholesale companies will want an EIN prior to selling to you and you may not want to be giving out your social security number (if you're using that as a Tax ID). Just my $.02.

  13. I'm considering adding several size tins to my line of candles. The smaller sizes I can single wick, but the 8 oz need to be double wicked. They burn beautifully, great throw, but I'm concerned with how hot the tins themselves get. My smaller ones don't ever get that hot, and I know it's the result of the double wicks causing the heat in the bigger ones. The 8 oz get very hot, to the point that you'd probably burn your finger if you left it on there for more than a moment. Knowing that not all customers follow proper candle burning (i.e., never move a burning candle), I'm not sure the hotter tins are a good idea (but dang they smell great!). I guess I'm just curious how hot your 8 oz tins get, and what is considered "acceptable". TIA!
