  1. I just got my sample order today. I like their scents, very complex. However, they smell really really strong. Please, does anyone use this company and what percentage (for candles) do you use compared to other companies? (by the way, sultry angel is soooo nice!)

  2. I found this on the web. I'm still new at all this, but I thought it this might be false information.

"Since fragrance costs twenty times more than wax, highly scented candles cost more than the cheap ones you can buy at the discount store. Very highly scented candles like Courtney’s Candles actually have little liquid pockets of scent oil that you can see thru the glass container. [isn't that dangerous?]

Soy wax candles are recent fad on the candle scene. Their makers tout the advantage of a lower tendency to produce soot. The problem is that soy wax will only hold about half the fragrance load of high quality paraffin wax, so you don’t get all that much scenting power with a soy candle."

  3. Holly,

Yes it was Peaks. I was really dissappointed. It seemed like a really balanced cookie smell. (I hate it when it's too rich, like cheesecake.) Interesting about the soy though! Everybody always thinks the parafin is better. Maybe not for food smells?

  4. I tested sugar cookie today in my tarts. I was not impressed. I love the smell, but it didn't have a strong throw. It did better in staight soy for me then the blend I tried it in today, which surprised me. Oh well. I would like to know of a good sugar cookie, anyone? :)

  5. I found this on the web:

"The molecular structure of soy wax contains various types of chemical bonds that make it harder to break down than paraffin wax. Its structure is more prone to trapping scent, than allowing it to evaporate freely. It takes more heat to break down these chemical bonds, therefore, you will need to use hotter burning wicks when making soy candles. Try increasing your wick size. Also, we suggest that you use 1.5 ounces of fragrance per pound of soy wax with the majority of our fragrances. If you are still not happy with the scent throw of your soy wax candles, consider using a soy/paraffin blend wax."

  6. My first batch of tarts and boy am I pleased! This is my first try at tarts and I couldn't be happier. I'm afraid I might have a serious addiction! I put my tart in the simmer pot at 7:30 before I left for work, and when I arrived home at 2 I could smell the sucker before I even put in the key! Yippie! I am so happy. It was raspberry heaven.... Now, what other scents must I try???:yay:
