  1. The plastic cups @ BCS are not the larger ones; they are 3/4" tall. Carole

The standard tea lights I have that bought at stores are not 1 and a half inchess wide, they are just an inch, which makes the BCS tea lights wider. They are about a centimeter deep, so 3/4 of an inch deep would also be a big difference.

Unless, of course, I somehow got some runty tea lights! :undecided

  2. These I have found to work in both soy and parrafin...

German Chocolate Cake -- very, very yummy

    Pink Sugar

Brown Sugar and Fig -- soft and strong

    Downy Fresh -- super strong

    Clean Cotton

Black Rasberry Vanilla -- super strong

    Cranberry Citrus

Apple Jack and Peel -- super strong

    Amish Harvest -- super strong

    Vanilla Hazelnut

Wild Moutain Honey -- too strong, lol

    Frosted Carrot Cake

  3. Those ratios are way to much FO. They are telling you to use between 16% and 33% of your total volume! Where did you find the info on those ratios?Donna

    From Bittercreek South....

Dry Oil Body Spray/Perfume: Mix in FO or EO at any dilution depending on desired strength and recommended usage levels of FO or EO. Common dilution rates are 1 part FO/6 parts cyclo up to 1 part FO/3 parts cyclo.

    I'm glad I posted before I made any....:undecided

  4. Got some of this stuff today to mix up with some FO and make body sprays. I have read that you can use it from 1 part FO to 3 parts cyclo up to 1 part FO to 6 parts cyclo... That's a big difference! Anyone use this, and how much FO do you usually use?

I also have to add that I got it from BCS and they included 3 1 oz. FO samples with it, which surprised me on such a small order. Very nice.

  5. Okay, I use C-3 which is soy too. I got an interesting PM from someone who said that the notes on this F/O are VERY crowded so it smells very neutral. Allow the candles to cure and then see how I feel. Sounds like good advice.

Scented, I have never added anything to my make to make a scent throw. If a scent needs additive and what not to throw in my soy, then I won't keep it. Many F/O ROCK in soy.

Yup, I've had the Mango/ Papaya and it does sell very well for me! It's from Peaks as well.

I have decided however to try and go back and retry the Green Clover & Aloe from Peaks. I couldn't get it to throw in a candle but the clamshells worked well. I adore this scent. Much more than the Watercress & Aloe from NG

FINALLY got my GL scent in the mail. No comments until they're in wax too. That will be tomorrow.

    Fire:cool2:

Let us know when it has cured. I only let mine cure for a week. I am too impatient to wait any longer! If an oil takes longer than that, I give up!

  6. First of all, Peaks is my favorite FO supplier. That being said, this particular oil I was not impressed with. I bought it because it was listed to throw well in soy, but I found the throw to be light to medium, and that was in tarts at a very high load. However, I was using soy at that time and that could have everything to do with it!

  7. I'm considering branching out and am going to get some samples from some new companies, but I am really stumped about where to go next. Does anyone have any favorites with decent sample pricing? I love Peaks and have already tried AH, Daystar, Just Scent, and BCS. TIA!

  8. I will never go back to the old way. The temp gun has really changed my experience with making candles. It is much faster and easier. Keep in mind that the gun will only measure surface temps, and the wax must be stirred well to get an accurate reading. I actually find the gun method to be more effective as wax temps change rapidly, and this gives you an instant reading. I also use it to check melt pool temps, the heat of candle warmers and tart melters, and the temperature of my walls. Just thought I would throw that last one in there.

  9. I ordered the 20 watt, thinking it would definitely be better than my Hobby Lobby one. It was not as hot, and the hobby lobby is 15 watts. The one I purchased was the cheaper one. Maybe that was why? Very weird.

Edit: I just went to their site and it looks like they no longer sell the one that I bought. Perhaps there were complaints.

  10. I do wicklkess and tarts. The tins do get hotter, but that is good in my case because I use the cheapo Hobby Lobby warmer, which really isn't all that hot. Melt pool with a shallow jar is about 155-160, with a flat 4 oz. tin it is 175-180, which I find to greatly increase scent throw. At 155 with the glass, the FO has to be very good to throw.

Keep in mind, however, that the jars have a lip around the neck, which makes them a little more stable and safe. The sides of the tins go straight up down and seem a little more dangerous.

I am about to invest in a warmer warmer (ha, that's funny). I've also thought about doing 8 oz. tins and filling them only partially to make them safer.

    HTH! :)
