I have a couple rose silicone molds and I made a hole in the mold and use wick pins and it works perfect, no leaks.
-
You really make some really unique candles! In a mold shaped like that, how would you wick them for what length of burn? Like other pillars, burn to edge and each burn time would be longer?

They look more than just ok! I like your color choices, especially the white layer in the second picture.
-
One quick question ..... I was staring at your candles again *lol* thinking how flippin gorgeous they were when it hit me that the little blue candle has the layers overlaping the wrong way! How did you do that? Did you wick it the right way up, as in the top of the mould as the top of the candle instead of the bottom of mould as top of candle?
Anjie,x.
No I poured the candle with wick hole down. Could it be the way I turned the candle for the photo?

Those are absolutely breathtaking! Both sets are just seriously awesome. These are what got me wanting to make candles in the first place, I used to 'dream' about making candles like that, and I am being serious *lol*. Don't you dare find fault with them, they are totally perfect .
I don't use mould release either, never have. I find if I leave my candles in the mould long enough (until they are totally cool and there is a gap between wax and mould) then I don't lose much frosting most of the time. I pour with my moulds at room temp and cool at room temp too.
Now lets see MORE candles!!
Anjie,x.
I think you found my flaw, I get too impatient and need to let them cool like you suggested! Thank you!

Nice work! I say no on the mold release, some do use it. Don't chill your molds Pour room temp and cool at room temp. Some frost may get lost. That's the nature of the beast and what makes these candles unique.

I agree on the mold release, and I don't chill my molds. I think I get a little anxious to unmold at times, so maybe I need to be a little more patient. Thanks for the advice, over the years you have posted many a beautiful candle!

you have been busy! I especially like the brown one on the far right also. What technique did you use for that one, it is hard to see.

Those are perfect! Great Job. I was getting alittle burned out but you have inspired me!

The above link is what I use to make my pictures smaller otherwise they would be huge, so I had the opposite problem.
I wish there were some large pine cones around here, we have 3 pine trees but they have tiny little cones. I will have to check other peoples yards.

You have your display very appealing, I wouldn't be able to walk by that one without checking it out.
-
Beautiful! Do you color your cane? It looks like a light beige or Ivory.. I like that.
-
I really like how you have your table arranged and the risers. The only suggestion I would have is unwrap some of your pillars maybe.
-
I like your pine cones, especially the berries! Wish I had a dollar store near me:(

I've never made chunk votives before but they look nice. Do you sell them for the same price as a regular votive? There's a lot more work in them. What's the going rate nowadays for a regular votive anyways?? Haven't done any for a few years!
regular votives (no pkg) $1.00
chunk (no pkg) $1.50
The only price break I will give is they order 8 or more and then another price break over 100 (weddings)
If I have to put them in bags and ties I add .50, you are right about there being more work in votives.
-
Do you scent the chunks and the overpour with the same % FO?
Yes I scent the overpour same %. I have given out a few freebies of these and positive feedback, but people tend to get excited about anything free. :rolleyes2
-
Those look nice! What did you scent them with?
Irena
Red chunks - Cinnamon from Peak
Green Chunks - Winter Woodlands Whisper from Candle Cocoon
Yellow Chunks - Bayberry from Peak
over pour was Winter Woodlands Whisper
Nice combo, hopefully the customers will like them, especially those who don't put up live Christmas Trees. Last year Bayberry was very popular, each year it is different, so hard to know what people will like.
Thanks for the compliments!

Thanks everyone, right now this is my favorite style. Personally I have always liked the smooth creamy appearance candles, especially just white or ivory and several of them grouped together, I like how you can see the light of the flame traveling down/through the pillar. So, half creamy and half rustic or mottled is a good compromise.

Your pillars are wonderful! How long have you been making candles?
Thanks! Let me think how long I have been making candles.. I placed my first candle supply order in July 2000, so 7 years. I love it, especially pillars, cause sometimes you just never know what they will look like and the waiting for them to cool before you get them out of the molds seems forever but that is part of the fun and trying new techniques etc.

Thanks!! for the nice comments.

How long did you test burn?
What was the fragrance?
What is the diameter of the holder you tested in?
A picture would help.
