  1. Help please, once I got to the taffy stage my entire batch went to liquid with about 2 inches of foam on the top layer. I've never had it do this before, usually my batches do exactly as your method shows, so I am not sure what went wrong here, any ideas?

  2. I found these recipes on another website quite awhile ago and have tried a few of them.

A note on the essential oils - I wouldn't recommend peppermint essential oil for children or toddlers. Maybe try some lavender or chamomile.

  3. I did some researching and found what I was doing wrong. I'm looking for the texture to be more of a salve/balm than a buttery texture. I am going to try a ratio of butters/oils 4:1 beeswax and see if that works, if not I will come back with my percentages and see whats not working.

  4. Can anyone help me to formulate a baby balm (diaper cream)? I've tried a few different combos with these ingredients, but can't seem to get the texture right.

This is what I am using:

    Beeswax

Coconut Oil (or olive oil, I know they have different properties, but I can't decide on which one to use.)

    Jojoba Oil

    Apricot Kernel Oil

    Calendula Oil

    Cocoa Butter

    Vitamin E

    Any suggestions?

  5. Scented, it is a stick blender, I just call it a hand mixer, just a habit. Thanks for trying to help me out everyone. Not sure what happened. I think I might try rebatching, although rebatching and me is a whole other story, lol. The mojito cocktail isn't bad just ugly, so I'll keep that batch for me.

  6. I agree, I think the soap fairies are to blame, there's no other explanation, lol. I did search for reviews and those were scents that were reviewed as good in cp. I've soaped all of them before with no problems. As for water discount, my discount is always at 5%, I never change it.

The colorants I use are micas from brambleberry, there the only ones I use. I did try to use a hand mixer to beat through the seizing of the sandalwood vanilla, but I think I made it worse.

  7. Someone sent the soap fairies to me and they caused a bunch of trouble over the weekend. :sad2: I made 7 batches of soap of which only 3 came out right. I've made these soaps before, same recipes, same scents and I have no idea what happened.

1st - Sandalwood Vanilla (bb), it riced.

2nd - Blue Sugar (js), went crumbly.

3rd - Mango Papaya (peaks), after I unmolded and cut it, there were lye pockets inside.

4th - Mojito Cocktail (js), I had green swirls inside, but the rest turned a poop yellow color, with a slight red tint on top?

Asian Spice, Lavender Vanilla and Yuzu came out perfect!

I'm wondering, besides the soap fairies messing around, if the cold weather has anything to do with my soaping. I usually only make my soap on warmer days, but even with the cold this weekend decided to soap anyways. Any thoughts?

  8. I'm looking for a few candy scents that smell like the actual candies.

Jelly Bean, Sweettarts, Peeps, Gummie Bears and a true Marshmallow scent. Or suggestions of other good candy scents.

Does anyone know what supplier carries these scents? Thanks.

  9. I shredded up the soap, put it in a boilable baggie and then in the crockpot with water on the bottom. I let it cook on low for about 2-3 hours and it was about 3/4 of the way melted, but I got impatient and took it out. I then blended it with a hand mixer (whipped soap effect). So far it it is a pretty light brown color and very creamy looking. I will post picks in a few days when I unmold it. I hope it comes out looking okay, because every time I have rebatched they come out looking like a mess.

  10. Thank you. I've tried rebatching a few times and it just comes out crumbly, but I have so many scraps that I didn't want to throw out, so I'm trying to figure out this rebatching thing. I think I'll try it in a baggie this time, I haven't done that yet.

  11. I can make cp soap, but I cannot rebatch soap for the life of me. If I want to rebatch in a crockpot should I still use one of those boilable baggies and add water to the crockpot or should I just put the shredded soap straight in the crockpot with the little bit of water? Any other advice or tips. Thanks.
