Anyone tried their specials? They were recommended to me and they have really awesome $8.00 / Lb. specials but there are no f/o descriptions. I am especially curious about "Marvin's Garden". I thought that was a Monopoly block? That caught my eye ... LOL.

Anyone had any experience with Brigher Scents? I would like to know if their oils are really good in soy and what the CS is like. TIA for the help!!

I just checked it out and the site is working fine now. They moved to a new hosting company and that could have been the problem. I like what I'm hearing about the quality of oils with this place but NOT liking the lack of CS. However, like someone said, you take with the good with the bad.

I know there is a list here on this thread for suppliers and their scents that throw well in soy but I was wondering if anyone knows a supplier or suppliers that sell REALLY strong f/o's that throw really well in soy?

I have found my previous supplier has become unreliable and it really stinks because their oils were awesome! I'm just really having a hard time trusting another supplier to give me the same quality. It's giving me a headache ... all this in time for busy season too ... ARG! If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for the info. You have got me rethinking now ... LOL ... I will do as you suggest and I'm thinking maybe plastic jars would be a better alternative to the glass jars.

Oh, I was going to use plain old Epsom salts myself and buy them the drug store. I was looking at all the different salts but figured I go with the easiest (and cheapest ) way that I could for now since I'm just starting out. I also see that some salt recipes call for glycerin in the mix as well. And how about fragrance? Wondering if it's better to go with Essential Oils for these or is fragrance oil fine to use. Like I said, I make soy candles too so I would like to just use the same fragrance oils that I am using for those and my lotions. EO's are probably the better way to go for the B&B but I hate to buy two types of oils of the same scent. Seems like a waste. What do you think?

I'm thinking about putting the finished product in pint mason jars with some homespun on the lids or something like that. I'm not sure on pricing either. Have to figure out what it costs me to make all of them when I get them done and take it from there.

Thanks for the imput Hibiscus. I was planning originally on doing shower gel and lotion and body mist, but I was trying to cut down on cost a little bit too. So I decided to see what melt and pours I could get into. I did get some lotion to go along with them. Shower gel and bubble bath are the next thing I'm going to be looking into. However, bath salts are next on the agenda ... .

Just wanted to put my two cents in. I have started using Golden Brands 464 soy wax and I can pour it just like parafin wax. I was so excited to find a soy wax that I could treat as a parafin because the thing that I never got used to was having to wait around for my wax to cool down before pouring.

For those of you that make homemade bath salts, if you don't mind my asking, do they sell well and what type and size container do you think is the best to present them in? You all have been so helpful. Thanks very much!

Thank you for your help also Robin. I just ordered some M&P bases, f/o's etc. ... grabbed some lotion base while I was at it too ... . Can't wait to get started.

I used to color all my candles and trying to make the decision for coloring or no color was very difficult. But once I made it and found that people actually prefer uncolored candles for the reasons you stated such as matching decor, etc., it was the best decision I ever made. I would never go back to coloring my candles. And they look so much more elegant no matter what glass container you put them in.

I have just started using Golden Blends 464 soy wax and you treat it just like a paraffin wax. Pour it hot and it's smooth as can be. Even after burning, it may get a little pitted but not like other soy waxes. I usually hand out an "About Soy" facts page with my candles, but I've never had anyone say anything about the pitted appearance before once they know to expect it and that it's just a typical characteristic of soy wax.

I'm just starting out with researching soap making and I have no idea where to start. Can anyone give any suggestions? The owner of the store where I have my candles has been telling her customers that she's going to be having soap and bath and body items coming in next month and I have no idea where to start and what is the best to start with.

I am just starting out with bath and body products and had my mind made up to do body mist, body lotion and shower gel. But after reading these posts here, now I'm not sure whether to go with soap instead. And what about lotions vs. body butters, etc.? Any help is much appreciated.

I have my candles in a consignment shop in my town and the owner has been telling everyone that I'm going to be bringing in bath aned body next month and since I'm the only vendor in there that will be selling these, the pressure is on. Now I'm not so sure what to do with as in soaps, lotions, etc.
