  1. Hi all, I have just started playing around with M&P, I just used a goats milk one, melted it, added fragrance oil and poured it into moulds. Although it has set fine, it is quite slimy and it won't dry out, what have I done wrong Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated as I am a total newbie to soap making. Thanks so much.
  2. ermmm ok, don't think a pile of compost would make very nice candles I know what you are saying though, is anything really eco-friendly these days!! I actually enjoy working with soy wax so think I will stick with it for the time being. topofmurrayhill, thanks I'll give the chunks a go and see what they look like!! Thanks everyone
  3. Hi all, I have just started making candles - votives, containers & tarts using soy wax. I love using soy, obviously it is an eco-friendly wax to use but does it have any limitations as to what all you can use it for?? I would love to experiment with chunk candles etc but was wondering is there going to be anything that I can't do with soy wax?? :undecided Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the tip, and sorry I am using CB135 and VB (depending in what I am making)
  5. Hi all, I am pretty new to this but have started making some tarts, votives and container candles using Ecosoy. I have been doing it very basically - heating wax until it completely melts (under 150 degrees) adding colour then fragrance (approx 4%-6%) then pouring. Sorry if this sounds dumb, I am still trying to get a feel for this!! My tarts are turning out fine but with my votives and container candles they quite frequently crack on the top - does anyone know what am I doing wrong?? Also, can anyone give me some 'golden rules' for using soy wax? eg how important are the temperatures, should I pour at a cetain temperature? Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Lisa
  6. Hi all, I have found some fantastic scents on US websites but they want to charge an astronomical amount for shipping For example, I created an order with Aroma Haven - something like 6 small bottles of scents, 6 tart tins and a couple of plastic moulds and the shipping to Australia was US$118!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's that all about??? There seems to be a very limited amount of scents available here, surely there must be a good supplier of scents in the US that doesn't charge the earth for shipping?? Can anyone help me? Thanks so much. Lisa
