  1. No matter how good the hot wax might smell, never take a drink from the container you just poured. Also a heat gun might really might come in handy.
  2. I just tried a few samples from Old Mills and I'm Real happy with how strong they are.
  3. I thought the same thing too. The people I have testing my candles like it. But for my second batch I added a little BCN pumpkin spice to the mix. Their curing now & I'll find out how they go over with my testers. But I personally like it better.
  4. My parasoy candles I let cure for 2 weeks. When I just using J223 or J50 I'll let them cure for a couple of days.
  5. :bump: Just curious if anybody knows the answer to the above question.
  6. I like them both. I too prefer the lettering on the first one. I also like how it is less cluttered. But I prefer the photo on the second picture. The first pic doesn't automatically give me the thought of a pine lodge. I thought it was more of a western theme. I can see in the distance the house. But I had to zoom in to see it. When the label is downsized I don't think you will be able to see the cabin at all. I've been busy working on labels for my candles. I ran into the size issue & detail when I printed them up. I spent hours adding detail to my labels. I was working at 400% size so I could see every thing great. Once I printed them up all those hours I found out were waisted.
  7. The candles were made out of J223 wax & I used a CD14 wick. But I'm new to making candles & this was one of my first attempts. I never did any testing on which wick was the best. To be honest I didn't even weigh up my FO. At the time I was measuring by fluid ounces. That's untill I found out my mistake.
  8. I made my lemongrass & citronella candles in old vegi cans. I have a Pamper Chef can opener that leaves a smooth edge when the can is open. I save the lid for when the candle isn't in use I can cover it. To help prevent any damage the hot can might cause, I trimmed a piece of cork and glued it to the bottom of each can. The cork was from a old message board I had laying around.
  9. Knitting needles from a garage sale for stirring. Empty yogurt and single serving apple sause containers for measuring my FO into when I'm weighing it up. My circle shaped chunk cutters are made from scrap pieces of thin walled pipe. Some of them are copper others are stainless steel. I have sizes from 3/8 up to 3". And I think the cheapest low cost item is some of my ribbon. I had a few new plaid shirts. After wearing them I ended up damaging them at work. So I sectioned off the good areas to salvage what I could out of them. Since then I keep my eye's open at the rag boxes we have at work. Our rags are the bought in 25# boxes from some area second hand store. It's made up of all the old clothing items they couldn't sell. I find some real nice patterns doing this.
  10. You could try making your own decals for this. Or you can check out your local hobby store. When I was a kid I use to get premade decals for my model cars. Another place to look would be eBay. Here's one person selling some.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Police-And-Sheriff-Model-Decals-3-Sets_W0QQitemZ230008371613QQihZ013QQcategoryZ2594QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem One other item to consider might be diecast police cars.
  11. I'm using a 50/50 blend of EZ-Soy and J50. I seem to be having the best luck with CD-16 wicks. With the CD-14 I was having a small issue with wax hanging up in the corners after a few test burns. On my CD wicks I never tried twisting them either. I'm going to try giving that a shot on my next batch.:smiley2:
  12. I guess the votes are in... I'll be waiting. I to don't know what this FO smells like but I got to try it out.
  13. Hi, I read all the different rave reviews of the Goddess scent. So many people seem to be buying it from OM. But I see there out of stock right now. But I did see that BCN has it. Is this the same scent? Or would you wait till OM has it back in stock?
