  1. Saw these today at the Dollar Tree. The Frankenstein holds about 8 oz. I got the Christmas mug there also. I have a question. Obviously I want to make these into candles, but how safe would the ceramic be? Since it came from the Dollar store is it possible that it is a below grade ceramic and will be nothing but trouble later on for the person who buys it. I have heard of clay flowerpots catching on fire, though nothing about ceramic ones. Am I just overreacting? I will make one to test, so I guess if it burns okay then I will go buy some more. Thanks, Bob and DonnaMarie
  2. Nope, they aren't mine. These did not come up when I did a Google search earlier. Too bad. I wonder if it would be a problem if I said Co. instead of spelling out Company. I guess I should probably just stay with Candles by DonnaMarie. Thanks to all who responded. Bob and DonnaMarie
  3. Hello all, Right now we are Candles by DonnaMarie, however, since we are pretty much just starting our foray into candlemaking I don't mind changing the name if something more original came along. What do you think about the Jack B. Nimble Jack B. Quick Candle Co. Not sure how original it is though. Maybe a little to long also. Don't think I would be able to shorten it though. What do you guys think. Bob and Donna
  4. Hello all, Saw these today at the party store (Rojays). They hold between 5 1/2 and 6 ounces. They were originally marked $1.99 on the bottom but then they were marked down to .99 cents. Already have a perfect pumpkin and candy corn setting up now getting ready for testing. Bob
  5. Hello all, I will be making approx. 45 baby shower favors for a friends sister-in-law. She is giving the shower for somebody else. Neither myself or my wife will be there, so my question is: How would you go about letting the women there know about your business? I do not think putting hang tags or labels with our company name would work. Seems kind of tacky. I could give the hostess our business cards in case they want to call and want more information, but suppose they don't ask. So, I am looking for a delicate way to get our name out there. Looking for all opinions. Thanks to all who respond, Bob and Donna
  6. Hello all, My DW and I have just started our foray in soy candlemaking. Its been about a month and a half now. I am following all the rules like a good boy and am doing alot of testing before I start selling, although it is tough because people are already wanting to know what we have. I have gotten alot of good info off of these boards. My question is, Where are all the candle makers from my state. From what I can tell the midwest is leading the pack in candlemakers, especially Texas. This is probably a good thing since my competition is probably light. I went to an Arts and Crafts fair here last month and not one candle or soap maker. We are located in Hawthorne, NY about 15 minutes from White Plains. My wife grew up in the Arthur Ave. section of the Bronx and I grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. We would love to give a shout out to all of the chandlers in our neck of the woods. Let us know you are here. P.S. Help us save some money and let us know if there are any good suppliers that are close to us. We will probably get our fragrances from the same places as the rest of you good people, however, wax and glass jars are another story. I ordered from FancyCandleJars but of course the shipping is killing me. Thanks to all who read and reply to this post. Ciao for now. Bob and Donna
