Wow, I did not know that burning candles around birds can be bad for them. Learn something new everyday I guess!
ReneeM, why do you have mixed feelings about the 'pure soy' wording?
-
I'm on the hunt for Brown Frosted Apothecary style jars! Would love to find them, but I think they are a product that is specially made for the company that I saw using them!
-
I have already thought of all that 'goes' into those prices, I do understand this, I do understand all about overhead, employees etc...I didn't just fall off the turnip truck! I still think there is price gouging going on with oils! You may not, that's fine, but IMO, I believe it!

Here is a link to an old thread - Bunny checked the ingredients, looks like coconut oil and about 1-5% extracts for some of the exotic butters - We can definitely make this!
From the sounds of the other posts, the butters do well in CP soap, not so much if you are trying to make a body butter with too high a ratio of this stuff, it will turn to "soup"
Thanks for the link, but it didn't work for me so I will do a search for it. This is very interesting to say the least, those 'butters' are pretty expensive per pound and if we can make something very similar and use that in our applications that would be great!

I am disgusted by these increases too, but the one part of all of this candle business that I would truly like to see is what are these suppliers really paying for the Fragrance Oils. IMO, that's where the price gouging is going on! I understand about the different costs of the different materials in these oils and the different strengths etc...but it makes you wonder when you see someone selling oils for dirtcheap and they are turning out to be scents that work for many people, thus they can't be that god awful, and then you see oils that are basically standard oils that are being so overpriced it really makes you wonder! I guess when I have to pay a 'premium' price on an oil that I have to use the MAX/or just under that amount per pound to get a decent throw, that tells me its just overpriced! This is my opinion anyway!

So you guys are kinda thinkin' like me then, hmmm, could this be made by us? I was so intrigued by the thought of these exotic butters, they sounded so heavenly but when I saw they were actually 'made' from extracts and hydrogenated veggie oil I started thinking they didn't sound so exotic anymore! LOL.
Anyone else who has received these butters have any opinions on them??? Hoping more people who have tried these will come along and tell us what they think!

Thank you for commenting, but I did realize I was looking at the Extract butters, I knew I wasn't looking at a mango, shea, cocoa etc, type butter. I wasn't confused about what I was looking at. My question was 'is this basically an essential oil in a crisco type base'. Sorry you took out of my post that I was confused about these butters but I wasn't!
-
Ok, I think these exotic butters sound absolutely like the bomb diggity but as I looked at them on the WSP site I noticed they are made from an extract in hydrogenated vegetable oil with some sweet almond oil also in it. Now my question is this, is this butter basically essential oils in a 'crisco' type base? Here's the inci list for the Lavender butter. I noticed this is the ingredients in most of those exotic butters on the wsp page. It made me wonder anyway.
INCI Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil (and) Lavendula angustifloia extract (and) Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil.

That's very generous of you to give up that info! Was your Yuzu the same then as most other Yuzu's out there? You probably can't answer that can you, since you probably haven't smelled everyone elses..LOL...duh!

Hey how about the grapefruit jasmine?
Yes, what about the GJ? I am intrigued by this one. I have never smelled this combo before and its sounding wonderful! Thank you for the info on the Chai Tea, that is appreciated!

You are totally right!
c. I could have put the whole puppy in a flat rate box and saved the $1.60 without going back to my house... cuz I always keep a roll of packing tape in my car at all times.... you never know when it will come in handy.
Well actually it would have been quite EASY to put in a flat rate box right there in the good old post office since flat rate boxes have a sticky strip already on them and NO TAPE IS NECESSARY so ya, coulda saved that $1.60 after all and would never have had to leave the post office, in fact, you wouldn't have had to even leave the line! Silly isn't it!

I agree, not waste so much money trying 'all' those oils from 'all' those different suppliers! I also would have tried more shows to get my name out there more!
