  1. Here is the slab form of WOW wax.
  2. Yay, I have followers! HAHA! Alright. Here is the photo I took after I poured, following the directions off of Nature's Garden's website. It is a beautiful pour and I see no sink holes, cracks or wet spots. The CT is nice, but has sort of a "factory" smell to it. (It really doesn't smell homemade, if that is even possible to detect!) Of course I have only done one scent, NG Blueberry Flapjacks. The wicks I have on standby are HTP 83, 104... Zincs, LXs, and CDs. I've gotten lots of sooting here with this wax, but before I only used soy or Joy Wax. There is no soot issue when I make it 70/30 with CBA. Anyone want to suggest a wick for me to use in this? I've tried a few as mentioned above, but would like more opinions if there are any~
  3. Received my WOW wax! It is the consistency of thick Vaseline. Compared to the Joy Wax, it is softer. It is very sticky on the fingers when using. Now, I poured a test candle to see what I have myself in store for. I like to pour a candle scented, colored, and unwicked (FO at 6% actual) to see the color adherence, behavior in jar and fragrance character. The WOW really looks nice! The color blue is sharp and I don't see any wet spots or cracks. The fragrance is noted as medium to strong scented at the actual 6%. (Actual to me means 6% of total candle weight, not 6% of just the wax poured). Now, to fancy my interest, I took my Ecosoya Advanced that I was having a rough time getting a throw out of. I made a 70/30 blend mostly the CBA. The fragrance in the SoyBlend seems richer than in the WOW. I can smell the notes of the fragrance more obviously. Burning: I tried CDs with WOW and got sooting, low to medium amounts. This was in a square 8oz Mason. I tried wicking down to CD10, there was still sooting, but not as much. I switched to LX22, a lot less soot, but assume the flame to be too small. Switched to LX24, got sooting the first bit, blew it out, trimmed, started flame again and it has been burning great without soot. However, after a three hour I did not obtain a full melt pool. I'm a bit puzzled by this since I thought paraffin burned with smaller wicks than soy. I will next try CD7 to see what it does. Now my SoyBlend is amazing! I decided to a higher FO load at 9% actual. I've had luck with the same size wicks I used with CBA straight, CDs. The throw is much better and I'm excited to try more fragrances with this wax. I'll take pics later if there is any interest??? Sandi
  4. An update from NG is that they aren't sure what exactly this wax consists of as it is a proprietary product from the manufacture. Kathy did say, though, that it is mostly paraffin, obviously!! I'll let you all know how my testing goes and my impressions of it. UPS comes Thursday! YAY!
  5. I just ordered a slab of this stuff to test! I will get back to this thread once I do. I also sent in a message to NG to find out exactly what WOW wax is, as it just states paraffin blend on their website.
  6. I was thinking of trying it out too! (I remember you gave me so much great advice when I started up with Joy Wax, thank you for that)! I've been contemplating which wax to start back up with now that we are stateside again. Do you know if there is any soy in the the paraffin blend? Or what exactly the "blend" means? Sandi
  7. That's a good idea, about the limited edition! It would seem that they wouldn't sell it if it were a "second hand" sort of deal they got as it still has the suppliers name on it, right? Thanks, everyone, for the input!
  8. I've never bought a closeout fragrance oil thinking that by the time I test and perfect that the oil would be no longer for sale. However, I've noticed closeout fragrances sticking around for a while on suppliers websites! So my question... has anyone successfully used CO oils in their line with good results? Is the quality significantly less than those in the regular line? Also, what exactly IS a closeout fragrance? I see suppliers say surplus or discontinued, but most closeout fragrances I've never seen on the regular list of scents for sale. Are they "outlet" scents at all with a little irregularity in the formula? Sandi
  9. The fam and I are moving from England to AZ this September and I am in the same boat! I've some time to use up most of my FOs, so I will be pretty much giving away lots of candles to friends and family before we leave. I would mail the other stuff you really want to keep to your new address or temporary address at the on base P.O. Have a fun move!
  10. Hey everyone! I am a military wife and we just received our new assignment to Arizona! Can anyone fill me in on available suppliers in the state? (Jars, wax, fragrance oils)... May be able to save a buck or two on shipping now! Thank you in advance!
  11. I used up the last of my scent called Gingerfruit from the Candlemakers Store! And I don't see it on their fragrance list (it was on special). Does anyone have a scent to reccomend that smells like Lysol, a lemony fragrance that is almost potent? I know, weird request, but it is one of my best sellers!
  12. HAHA! No, there are two! You and me... I never tried adding vybar to it, though!
  13. Can anyone recommend a perfect tealight wick (company name and style) for Nature's Garden JoyWax? I have used their zinc tealights to no success. I have also used LX-8 wicks and feel they lean too much to be safe in small tealights. HELP! I really want a safe tealight! Sandi
  14. I like it, too! It almost looks sort of tie-died! Great name!
  15. Another supplier I found! http://www.frenchflint.com/
  16. Hey, Real, I am just new to candle making and Joywax, but during my testing over the past three-four months I have not noticed any holes around the wicks during the burn. For me, the formula sets perfectly each and every time, but I do not know how good the formula was a few years ago! Maybe just getting a slab to play with would be a good idea? sandi
  17. On another note, I had a friend testing candles with me that had the zinc wicks in NG's pure soy. I thought the burnt smell was worse in soy... but my friend said that she only smelled the scent! I wonder if it could be our noses that smell the fuel/burnt smell from being around all the FOs! ???
  18. I had to give up all together on zinc in Joywax. It gave me not a fuel smell, but a burnt smell. When I smelled a used candle with the zinc wick, it was such an awful smell. I could not smell any scent at all! It was so frustrating! And I didn't like how zincs burned. I use LXs and am so happy with them!
  19. Thank you everyone for your replies! I really appreciate it!
  20. Do any of you UK candlemakers know of a good place to purchase candle jars? I have looked everywhere and cannot find much... just the plain type like Hex and Straight Sided. I would really appreciate your help!! sandi
  21. It probably is good to take the precautions... thank you for replying!
  22. Hi, perhaps a dumb question! BUT, are wicks universal throughout the suppliers? Meaning, if I buy LXs from one company, will they be the EXACT same in make from another company? Will I have to test perfomance if I change suppliers?
  23. Shary and Henry, So, actually 44-24-18 Z would have a larger melt pool and burn hotter that the 44-32-18 Z? Now I am really, really confused!
  24. Well THANK YOU for thanking me! A lot of people don't realize that it is not just the member of the Armed Forces who is fighting for our freedom. It is the wife and kids at home (often apart for many months throughout the year) who give him the strength to carry on... we are in this just as much as my husband!
  25. Hey, everyone who is in my situation! Here is a list of websites I have found to be able to ship USPS for us U.S. Military families stationed overseas. I have contacted most of them to verify, so to save you from doing your own asking... Hope this helps! I know there are more, but I am still searching!
