  1. i've had request for rose scents...anyone have any suggestions on a good one or two?
  2. thanks to all of ya'll. i'm gonna remelt it and try it again...and next time i will test the color first!!
  3. i used liquid dye also...black grey. just didn't add enough. but it smells great, i was just wondering if melting it down and reheating it would lose some of the scent.
  4. i had a request from a customer for a certain color candle (black!--hope she's not doing any voodoo!) and i don't like the way it turned out. is it possible to melt it and do a repour? would i need to add more fo? the color wasn't as black as i wanted it so i need to add more color. never had to do this before because i've always been pleased with my container candles. i don't see why it would be a problem but thought ya'll could help.
  5. thanks to all of ya'll......it was the biggest mess i've ever seen!!! although little blue paw prints all over my tile floors looked kind of cool....for a minute! still got a lot of stains in my grout..but i'll go get what ya'll suggested. one of my dogs stuck his nose in it...now it's bright blue! poor thing!
  6. this is an off the wall question....i spilled a bottle of liquid dye on my kitchen countertops...tile...of course. i can't get the stain out of the grout!! i've tried everything i have in the house. has anybody done this?? i know, i know...i should've put down something! any suggestions???? (it's also on my tile kitchen floors and now on my dogs because they stepped in it!)
  7. i've tried making chunks with a blend and they were difficult to work with and i have gotten the best chunks with straight paraffin. also i think you should wick up as i've found...if you plan on having chunks comming out of the candle top. i found the wax doesn't burn evenly over the chunks..so i wicked up and it did. hope that helps:p
  8. duh....just read your response earlier!!!!!!!!
  9. VERY NICE!!!! i've done multilayered candles a bunch...but how do you get the slants???? please share!
  10. just like me!!!! i can't wait to click the "order" button and get my FO's!! Who knows, maybe you'll like the french van....i just didn't think it was strong enough. But trust me i think next time you should order warm van sug!
  11. you are awesome....thank you!!!! As you can tell I am fairly new to this and have spent WAY too much money because i am totally addicted!!!!
  12. i've only found 1 supplier that ships from texas...lonestar.. and you all know that the shipping charges can be a PITA! I was wondering if there's any other suppliers in texas that i can use.
  13. i just got some warm vanilla sugar and i ABSOLUTELY love it!!!! i use a paraffin mix also...i tried french vanilla and didn't care for it.
  14. hey fern.....just a question about using your own printer to print labels. you are talking about your regular computer printer..right? do you have to use special paper or something? forgive me if this sounds stupid! just wondering how it works since i too would like to print my own labels from my printer instead of ordering them. thanks
  15. thanks for the suggestions.....i am making containers. i'm fairly new to candle making and haven't even begun to try pillars yet! i made the chunks using straight parafin and colored them. but when i poured the overpour it didn't quite turn out the way i had expected. i guess i was looking for more of a clearer look. it kind of turned out like milk with chocolate chips!
  16. what's a good overpour wax to use when making chunk candles? i tried it with igi4630 and it kind of overpowered the chunks only showing a little bit of chunks.....any suggestions??
  17. i reallly appreciate the response!!! so, you say you switched......from asto q? is there another better wax that has the same "crystal" effect? i really like the wax just not the oil mess.
  18. a lot of people say the soy is great to work with but i found that a parafin mix is better...in my opinion!
  19. i've been experimenting with different kinds of waxes and found astrolite q is reallly unique and different but found that after it's hardened the oil scent is still wet and in pools on top to the candle. has anyone dealt with this and knows why it's happening? thanks:rolleyes2
